Former NFL player Terry Crews is riding high on his success in the entertainment industry. He debuted in the NFL aged 23 in 1991 and retired in 1997. Terry took up acting shortly later and never looked back. Even though he is not an athlete anymore, he maintains an alluring body that enhances his personality. Terry follows a healthy lifestyle, making him the fittest man in Hollywood. Moreover, he also has some hard-hitting opinions about bodybuilding that are undeniably true.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine-star Terry Crews played as a linebacker and defender in the NFL. Initially, he started playing football for his college team at Western Michigan University. He got a full athletic scholarship after his freshman year. Following this, he played NFL professionally for teams, like the Los Angeles Rams, San Diego Chargers, and Washington Redskins. Crews also got the opportunity to play for the European NFL team, Rhein Fire in the World League of American Football.

What did Terry Crews have to say about bodybuilding?

In a 2018 interview with Bodybuilding.com, Crews shared his experience of working in the film Blended (2014). He played a jolly character, Nickens. The film was shot in South Africa, where he worked out every day. Crew’s mantra is staying fit, regardless of seasons. The actor does not like the bulking and cutting regime in bodybuilding. He runs four miles minimum daily, to maintain his body.

He also mentioned his thoughts on bodybuilding, by saying, “There are a lot of people who lift weights who are not healthy. I know that lifting weights is supposed to be a healthy activity, but it takes balance. I’ve seen guys have heart attacks and they’re huge.”

Furthermore, he explained his idea of having a fit body if one likes to lift weights. He said, “It’s important to balance weights with an activity that makes you look like you can do something. That’s the whole purpose of fitness—you want to be able to move, you want to be able to do stuff.”

Overall, he believes it is important to mix different fitness exercises to see what one truly likes. Sticking solely to weightlifting may not be the wisest thing to do.

Does Terry not like weightlifting?

No, Terry is not against weightlifting. His fitness regime includes power-clean exercises. An Olympic trainer taught him the ideal way of doing it. According to Crews, weightlifting helps testosterone levels. Although he loves weightlifting, he likes to be in his safe zone. Unlike others, he goes for 600 pounds instead of 1RM. He stated in the interview. “So, I always go to the point where I feel like I could do just a little bit more. If I can do three reps instead of trying to one rep, it’s all good to me.”

Although he does not believe in full-blown bodybuilding methods, Terry has a very measured bodybuilding routine that makes him look super-fit every time.
