In a 2014 interview with Dish Nation, during a round of rapid-fire, actor Michael Jai White declared that he could beat the legend, Bruce Lee. While he made a bold statement, the actor braced himself for all the backlash for his claim.
White claimed he could beat Bruce Lee due to a size difference
While size matters in some fights, White’s theory was that since he was larger than Lee, he could beat him in a duel. He explained that Lee weighed 132 pounds while he outweighed him by about 100 pounds. White has also received training in various forms of martial arts, which justified his bold claim. However, he faced skepticism both from the interviewers and the audience.

The audience, in fact, went a step ahead and criticized the star for disrespecting Lee’s legacy with his statements. Die-hard fans of Bruce Lee made sure to let White know of their disapproval with a flood of comments. While some criticized him for his ignorance, some explained why Lee would still beat him due to his talent. It caused the star to put up an?apology for his statements.
Despite the public apology, the actor still faced backlash for his gesture and words. A fan even went so far as to challenge him, saying,?“It?s not what you think you know, it?s what you can prove? Join UFC, see the fighter that you are“. White chose to disregard this. He addressed the entire incident and spoke more about Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan in an interview a few years later.
