Lindsey Vonn has certainly made her mark in alpine skiing, enough to be called a legend in her own right. However, this never meant her sporting interests were limited to just snow-clad slopes. Lindsey Vonn is an avid fan of international racing, and she once had a golden ticket to becoming an F1 driver. However, the offer at the time clashed with Vonn’s interest in becoming a mother at the time. She, therefore, had to sadly decline. Now, years later, owing to her persistent passion for the sport, she got another shot at being an F1 driver.

Lindsey Vonn was asked that in order for her to become an F1 driver, she couldn’t be pregnant for 3 years then. After thinking long and hard, she felt it was too much of a sacrifice for her. She continues to be an avid follower of the sport and even maintains a close friendship with 7-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton.

Vonn isn’t opting for this career at this point in her life. It is just for the promotion of the big race ahead. But given her lifelong passion and love for the same, it was evident how ecstatic and satisfied she was to be behind the wheel. She was also wearing full racing gear and a helmet with the endorsement of Jaguar.

Despite being a lifelong lover of the sport, Vonn once chose her personal life decision over a full-fledged career in F1. And that says a lot about her commitment and determination.

Lindsey Vonn was already a big star in alpine skiing when she decided to make a career shift. Such is her love for the sport. But as she told Graham Bensinger in 2020, “I was thinking about switching and going on to the Formula 1… But I couldn’t because they wanted me to commit. It was three years, and they were like you can’t get pregnant, you can’t do anything and I am like I don’t know if I really wanna do that”.

However, the prospect of becoming an F1 driver did excite her for a brief period. She even visited the Miami International Autodrome a few months ago during the Grand Prix, and she wasn’t in the audience seat, but instead in the tracks. The event even witnessed a distasteful incident between tennis legend Roger Federer and Sir Jackie Stewart, and Vonn had her say on it.
