Champion strongman Hafthor Bjornsson has triumphed over everything he attempted so far. Boxing, strongman, business, and acting, he has remarkably performed in everything. After retiring from his short-lived boxing career, Bjornsson is prepping to appear in powerlifting. In one of his recent videos, the strongman chanted like legend Ronnie Coleman while bench-pressing at 429 pounds at 3:00 a.m.

Hafthor has claimed multiple titles to his name. He is the only strongman to win Arnold Strongman Classic, Europe’s Strongest Man, and the World’s Strongest Man consecutively in a single year. Renowned as the greatest strongman ever, Hafthor has 30 international competition wins. Moreover, he is also famous for playing the role of Ser Gregor Clegane in the hit HBO drama ‘Game of Thrones’ for five consecutive seasons.

Hafthor Bjornsson was prepping at 3:00 a.m.

Tall and Strong, Hafthor initially paved his way to becoming a national-level basketball player. However, after undergoing two angle injuries, he had to retire from basketball in 2008. Soon Hafthor recovered and found inspiration in legends like Dorian Yates and Ronnie Coleman. He started bodybuilding, finding his way to create a career as a strongman.

Currently, the strongman is spotted in rigorous training sessions preparing for powerlifting championships. Hafthor frequently posts his training videos on his social media account. In one of his recent videos, he lifted a 429-pound bench press late at night. Another thing that caught fans’ attention was Hafthor chanting like Ronnie Coleman after successfully performing the herculean routine. He chanted,“Yeah Buddy….Yeah!”

The strongman also captioned that video, “4 hours of sleep. No breakfast… some would call that fasting. No music and training at 3 am. My last heavy session before December 3rd. 195kg bench with a pause. Happy with the prep and now I gotta get some proper rest in and few light workouts before I smash my goal of 1000kg total.”

He also added, “The powerlifting meet will be live streamed on my Twitch and my YouTube channel. Don’t miss it! Yesterday I attempted 380kg deadlift raw. You think I got it? Ps currently we are running a massive Black Friday sale on my website. Link in bio!”

The strongman is preparing to compete in his self-created championship named 2022 Thor’s Powerlifting Event which will take place on 3rd December.

Why did Hafthor retire from boxing?

After becoming successful as a strongman, Hafthor trained for a few years to try his luck in boxing. He challenged his rival Eddie Hall to a boxing match in 2020. Hafthor prepped for boxing in a short span and faced many prolific fighters.

Two years later, he defeated Eddie in March 2022. Post the fight, Hafthor announced his boxing retirement as he simply could not connect with the sport as he does to strongman.
