As athletes prepare for the intensity of the Paris Olympics 2024, skateboarder Sky Brown remains unfazed by the pressure. Even the grueling expectations from the surroundings have not moved the Tokyo Olympics medalist. Rather, Sky Brown has claimed her change in maturity as time has helped her to stay above the pressure. At 15 years old, she confidently declares that her performance in Paris will surpass her achievements in Tokyo. Where does she find the motivation to nurture such ambitious dreams?

The Paris Olympics 2024 hopeful has acknowledged her parents as being her soul saver. Since the early days, her parents have remained the catalyst in fulfilling her aspirations.

In discussing her family’s role in her development, Sky Brown mentioned, “My family keeps me grounded.” Moreover, Sky’s father, Stuart Brown, has played a pivotal part in inserting the skateboarding dream into her. Being a professional skateboarder, Stuart had also mentored her daughter in the initial times. As a result, Sky Brown started to watch her Tokyo Olympics dream when she got to know about it. Meanwhile, the Tokyo connection felt closer to her as Sky was born in Japan and her mother, Mieko, also belongs to Japan. Despite such a confluence of connections, both Stuart and Mieko weren’t ready to let their daughter participate in Tokyo initially, and the reason was an accident.

In 2020, Sky Brown faced a mishap where her skull bore the brunt. The resulting fracture was so gruesome that the teenager lost her memory initially. Apart from that, her heart and lungs went through injuries. In such a moment, Sky’s determination assailed her through, and she became the youngest medal winner in British Olympics’ history. Now, after 3 years, Sky Brown is still determined about her Paris Olympics 2024 participation. Moreover, she has already tried another Olympic sport to earn the coveted berth.

The multiple shades of Paris Olympics 2024 participation 

Stuart Brown has never been on the Olympic platform. Rather, he lives his dream through his children – Sky and Ocean. In that quest, skateboarding is not the only sport. Stuart also let the Brown siblings try the surfing game. On surfing as well, the British teenager holds a lofty dream. 

In keeping her Paris Olympics 2024 dream multi-faceted, Sky Brown tried the British Olympics surfing trial this time as well. However, she missed the qualification mark by just one point. However, in skateboarding, she remains strong, eyeing for nothing less than the golden orbic. But at the same time, she has mentioned her plan regarding the 2028 LA Olympics.

From the LA Olympics, Sky Brown is planning to ‘bring home two gold medals’ – one from skateboarding and another from surfing. Her family’s cooperation has made her more confident in this ambitious lane.
