The Emerald Downs is a very prominent racetrack based in Auburn, Washington. It was opened for thoroughbred racing in 1996 after the Emerald City in Seattle. Many famous American jockeys have ridden the emerald downs track. Now, though the track is meant for thoroughbred horse racing, it recently offered the fans a new kind of race.

Thousand of people, including some celebrities, visited the Emerald Downs during the horse racing. For years and years, the track was filled with local visitors to watch the show. But eventually, the tracks became less prominent. However, it opened again with a surprising diversity of races. So, instead of horseraces with famous jockeys, the tracks organized races for people. The “Grandparents Weekend” was celebrated on the race tracks on Sunday as a “Grandparents race.” The wholesome video received some intriguing fan reactions.

Horse track race turned into Grandparents Derby

The Emerald Racing tracks organized the first-ever Grandparents Derby on 25th June, Sunday. The race was part of grandparents’ weekends, so the entry was free. There was also a prize draw to boost the spirit of the race. The race consisted of over 20 participants covering a distance of 40 yards. It was most likely the first race organized for grandparents. The runners were none other than the ‘American Association Of Retired Person’ members.

This emerald Downs is the same racing track that organized last year’s famous T-Rex race. The runners were seen wearing dinosaur suits on the race tracks. And now the grandparents race is driving the netizens crazy. A runner was seen tumbling during the race, but he managed to get up, and no injuries have been reported so far. Both the participants and the viewers enjoyed the race thoroughly. The video of the race was posted by Sports Center on their official Instagram handle. Following this, the clip received some comical and uplifting comments.

The Grandparents Derby has gladdened the internet

Sports Center is known for its collection of amazing candid and on-spot videos of sports. Recently, when it posted about the Grandparents Race, it left the netizens charmed and tickled. “Blue Polo definitely tore his ACL,” asserted a fan.

Reacting to the video, a user said, “Knees left the chat lol,” humorously referring to the old age manner. A fan also noticed a heartwarming moment during the race and commented, “But the pair that immediately held hands.” “More entertaining than the WNBA,” someone committed to dissing the women’s basketball. “Them oldheads fast asf,” “This is Legendary,” “This is inhumane,” netizens cheered up the runners.

A user also commented on the Sports Center admin, saying, “Finally, Omar actually posts some good.” Most likely, the first-ever Grandparents Race held officially did not cease to amuse. It was a blend of hysteric and heartening. All the viewers and runners enjoyed the race, and none of the runners were hurt.
