Nebraska Cornhuskers, ranking in the top 6, has had numerous good teams and an array of remarkable moments since joining the Big Ten in 2011. But, there is only one thing that the Huskers failed to do, and that is to beat the Iowa Hawkeyes. The last time the Iowa Hawkeyes were defeated by the Nebraska Huskers was way back in 2005 in the National Duals.

Second consecutive loss for Peyton Robb
Last year at the 2023 NCAA Wrestling tournament, Jared managed to defeat Robb on the wrestling mat. The major reason behind Peyton’s defeat last year was his deadly bacterial infection. Similarly, this year, too, history repeated itself. To announce the disheartening news to Peyton’s supporters and spectators, Big Ten Wrestling took to their Twitter account and posted a short clip from the match featuring Peyton Robb and Jared Franek in 157-pound. Along with the video clip, Big Ten Wrestling penned, “It was a close matchup but @jared_franek got the road win for @Hawks_Wrestling.”

No. 2 ranking Jared Franek took over No.1 Peyton Robb and handed him his second consecutive loss at the tournament. Consequently, Peyton Robb lost the showdown against Jared Franek by 5-4. Jared’s win contributed to Iowa Wrestling’s overall victory in the series. But this is not the first time when Jared has defeated the opponent Peyton Robb in a showdown.

Eventually, Nebraska Huskers counted their first dual loss this season by 5-1, while Iowa will be uplifting their rank by 6-0. Even though the Huskers poured all of their efforts into making this match a win, they could not overcome the tough competition from opponent wrestlers. Now, Nebraska Huskers will return to the mats on January 19th at Minnesota against the opponent team, Purdue.
