Nash Hutmacher has been a star with two feathers for Nebraska. A staunch wrestler in his high school days, Hutmacher’s collegiate career flourished as a defensive linesman for Nebraska Football. the 330-pounder created much uproar last week when the news of his collegiate wrestling debut for Nebraska came to the fore. He did not disappoint the enthusiasts, as he defeated Wyoming’s Mason Ding in his debut match last week. However, the turn of the week seems to have turned the tables for both Nebraska and Hutmacher.

Amid a difficult time for Nebraska Huskers, Nash Hutmacher battled against Iowa’s wrestler Bradley Hill at heavyweight. But, in the NCAA Dual season, he had to face defeat in the match. To double the pain, after this eye-catching match, the Iowa Hawkeyes Wrestling team gave a funny name to this match-up.

A dazzling debut overshadowed by the loss

Iowa Hawkeyes Wrestling team took to its official X handle to cherish the victory over the Huskers and hilariously captioned the post as ”Bear Season’’ referring to the ‘polar bear’ nickname of Hutmacher. Apart from funnily addressing the dual meat, the Iowa Hawkeye Wrestling team also mentioned the match score in the caption, which further reads ”285 — Bradley Hill vs. Nash Hutmacher, 4-1 Iowa 23, Nebraska 10”.

Hutmacher has shown his prowess in wrestling and football alike. He is a 4-time state wrestling champion for Chamberlain High School. On the other hand, for Nebraska football, he flaunts 8 tacklеs for loss and 4.5 sacks in the season. He was much in the talks after shading an astonishing 45 pounds in just over a month to compete in the 285lb category. However, despite initial triumph, the match ended in despair for him. Let’s take a look at how the match progressed after the score remained 0-0 at the end of the first period.

Nash Hutmacher could not capitalize on a short lead

In the 2 period, Hutmacher performed well by selecting down, he succeeded in escaping after 8 seconds and led the match. The score came up to 1-0. In the third period, there was intense grappling, as Hutmacher tried to create opportunities.

However, Hill was adamant about fending him off. In the closing moments, Hill’s calculated move helped him take a clutch takedown. In the inconsequential outcome, Hill had the ultimate victory with seven bout wins for Iowa.

Hutmacher has accumulated an impressive 226 career wins and participated in six state tournaments. He has pinned three opponents paving the path to the 2019 USA Wrestling Junior Folk-style National Championship. It remains to be seen if Hutmacher can overcome the defeat to come back stronger.
