Shannon also explained how Bruce Lee had difficulty in getting roles as he was Chinese. “He was actually up for a lead role in a TV series and was told, you know, they couldn’t have a Chinese man as a lead on a TV show in America”, Shannon recounted. Further, she expressed that many people told him that he couldn’t be a Hollywood star. This negatively impacted the Little Phoenix.

“Water taught him to find balance”, Shannon mentioned, highlighting her father’s opinion that water always has some movement. Bruce Lee also moved on despite rejections which was recounted by Shannon. When Bruce got a negative response in America, he went to Hong Kong. After staying there, he decided to make a career in Hollywood and adapt. “So like water, he flowed around and found another way”, Shannon spoke.

Shannon also finally told the real reason why Bruce Lee decided to act in American movies despite having the option of starring in more Chinese movies. “He looked at somebody like Clint Eastwood who had to go to Italy and make the Spaghetti Westerns in order to have some fame and notoriety in order to be able to come back and have a career in Hollywood.’ This reflects Bruce Lee’s desire to go out of his comfort zone.
