Valorant is aiming to be the only game in the world with no cheaters. While their mission seems complicated, it is not impossible. The game has received immense criticism for having an overly protective anti-cheat system. Some have even called it intrusive and too much for just a game.

However, that doesn’t change their aim – which is to abolish cheating in video games. Vanguard is the anti-cheat system of Valorant. Their kernel-level debugger (vgk.sys) starts up with windows. Despite Paul Chamberlain’s assurances, the community was worried about the invasive nature of Vanguard.
While the debate rages on, the statistics show that Vanguard is doing a good job. Banning over 8500 people worldwide, we now know about its efficiency. Although Valorant is free to play, it is only available through drop keys on Twitch.

On May 12th, Riot devs updated a tweet mentioning the number of banned cheaters. To our surprise, its relatively less, yet several have tried. Valorant is delivering on its promise, and unlike other games, this one is a cheater’s nightmare. Phillip Koskinas, one of Riot’s anti-cheat developer, clarified the situation on Twitter.

The explanation was a double-edged sword. It was both a threat and a reminder to cheaters. Phillip was quite sarcastic about this and tried to add some humor to it. However, the fact remains the same, and people will always try to do the impossible. This is not the end of Valorant cracking down on cheaters. A game that promises to be cheat-free must have one or two loopholes, and this is what people are trying to find out.

Banning cheaters is the best way to deal with it?
Previously, we have seen Riot offering a hefty bounty for anyone who could crack their system. This looked like a simple gesture to let the cheaters know that there is something more than monetizing their cheat. Perhaps it was a better way for those cheaters to stop trying.

Nevertheless, the bounty marked that Vanguard is up for a challenge and wants people to try their best. Even though several tried, none of them have succeeded as of yet. We will have to wait and watch, but for now, Valorant remains to stay cheat-free.
