Just like the past few days have been rough for the New York Liberty, it’s kind of been the entire theme of the season for the Connecticut Sun – losses piling up. Normally, we’d call this a totally lopsided matchup. But after watching the defending champs drop a game to the struggling Dallas Wings and with Marina Mabrey back, we can’t say that too confidently. So, what else is on the table tonight and how is this one shaping up? Let’s get into it.

Connecticut Sun vs New York Liberty Prediction: Can New York Stop the Skid?
The New York Liberty head into tonight’s game in unfamiliar territory – on a three-game losing streak, their longest of the season. With injuries stacking up and Stewart sidelined, they face a critical test against the struggling Connecticut Sun in Uncasville. This is the first game of a two-game series between these teams, with a rematch scheduled for Sunday.
New York, now 17-9, recently fell 100-93 to the Lynx. Even with Jonquel Jones back from injury, the absence of Stewart, who’s averaged 18.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and nearly 3.9 assists per game, has left a noticeable void on both ends. On the other side, Connecticut continues to endure a tough season. At 4-21, they sit at the bottom of the WNBA standings. The Sun have lost five of their last six games, including a 101-85 blowout at the hands of Seattle. Tina Charles (16.1 points/game) and Marina Mabrey remain their offensive anchors, but the team continues to struggle with turnovers and defensive lapses.
However, past meetings suggest this may not be a walkover. New York holds the edge in recent matchups, winning three of the last five, including a dominant 100-52 win on June 2, but several contests have gone down to the wire. If Connecticut can clean up its offense and limit turnovers, the team could keep it close.
