When Stephanie White announced Caitlin Clark’s third injury with no clear timeline for her return, it sent shockwaves through the Indiana community. What were the Fever going to do? Well, they quickly dipped into the free agent market and signed recently waived Chloe Bibby to a 7-day hardship contract to help fill the void left by Clark’s absence, even though she wasn’t necessarily a like-for-like replacement.
Safe to say that move really paid off. Not only did Bibby score 18 points in her first two games with the Fever, but the team also won 5 of the 8 games she played in. That’s what you call making an impact. Naturally, fan interest in Bibby has grown a lot lately. From searching for a team to landing a rest-of-season contract, Bibby has had quite an eventful journey.
A question that’s been on everyone’s mind from the start: Is she related to Mike Bibby? Well, here’s the answer you’ve been waiting for!

Who is Chloe Bibby?
Chloe Bibby was born on June 15, 1998, in Horsham, Victoria, Australia. She played college basketball for the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Maryland Terrapins, and also represents the Australian National Team. The 27-year-old forward went undrafted in the 2022 WNBA Draft but earned a training camp contract with the Minnesota Lynx that year, only to be waived shortly after.
The only reason why we are still seeing Bibby in the WNBA is thanks to her stint in Europe. With Polish club AZS AJP Gorzów Wielkopolski, she earned MVP honors in the 2023–24 season, averaging 20.9 points and 5.9 rebounds domestically, along with 22 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.2 steals in EuroCup Women. That incredible run opened the door for her WNBA return on a training camp contract with the Golden State Valkyries.

Is Chloe Bibby related to 14-year NBA veteran Mike Bibby?
Well, the answer to this question is pretty straightforward. The Indiana forward has no ties with the current head coach of the Sacramento State Hornets men’s basketball team. Chloe was born to Australian parents, Leigh-Anne and Adrian Bibby. They have no connection to Mike Bibby, who is American.
On top of that, the Sacramento Kings legend comes from a rich basketball lineage. He’s the son of Henry Bibby, a UCLA great who played under the legendary John Wooden during the program’s golden era. He would go on to win three NCAA championships from 1969 to 1972 with the program and even achieve considerable success in the NBA by winning the championship with the New York Knicks.
It’s also worth noting that Mike and Henry Bibby are one of only four father-son duos to have both won an NCAA basketball championship. So, while many fans might assume there’s a connection between Chloe and Mike, the truth is that there isn’t one at all!
