Las Vegas Aces vs Atlanta Dream: Injury report

As mentioned earlier, Rhyne Howard will be sidelined for the upcoming game against the Aces due to a knee injury. While the team hasn’t shared the exact details of the injury, they did confirm that she is out for the rest of July with a left knee injury. Interestingly, the organisation hasn’t provided fans with a definite timeline yet, but claims that she will make a full recovery.

For the Aces, Jackie Young is still listed as questionable due to a hip injury. She didn’t take part in practice earlier in the day, and her availability will likely come down to a game-time decision. You can read her injury report here.

Can the Atlanta Dream topple A’ja Wilson and co?

As funny as it might sound, this is the first time these two teams will be facing each other this season. Under normal circumstances, betting your money on the Atlanta Dream wouldn’t be a bad idea. After all, the numbers back them up massively. And no, we’re not just talking about their 13-9 overall record being better than the Aces’ 11-11 record.

The Dream, courtesy of their big three of Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, and Brittney Griner, averages 83.8 points per game while restricting their opponents to 78.3 per game. In comparison, the Aces score 80.6 points a game while allowing their opposition 82.1 points per contest. The Dream wins the numbers game heading into Vegas.

But these aren’t normal circumstances. The Dream will be without Rhyne Howard, which means roughly 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists missing from Atlanta’s lineup. On top of that, there’s the Vegas crowd, which will definitely give their all to unsettle the visitors. These factors certainly make the Dream slight underdogs heading into this game, don’t you think?

Now, there’s also a counter-argument claiming that the Aces would be without their second-best scorer as well. But since her status is questionable, Jackie Young could still be fit enough to start the game. Ahead of today’s practice session, Becky Hammon did confirm that Young was being rested, which suggests that she might be available against the Dream.
