Just two days after the buzz around Caitlin Clark’s signature shoe, Nike has made another major move involving WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson. The Las Vegas Aces superstar is now central to a new global initiative, but it’s not the signature shoe deal many fans were anticipating.

This decision from Nike came right off the bat after Caitlin Clark’s signature shoe reveal date. Sole Retriever, which is dedicated to sneaker-related news, made a post on February 19 that read:

“BREAKING: Caitlin Clark’s first signature sneaker with Nike is set to debut in Holiday 2026 @Caitlin Clark,” which really came as a big reveal after all the deliberations with regard to its actual release date.

Since 2024, which was Caitlin Clark’s rookie season, the fans have been waiting patiently for it to come out, but until today, there was no answer as to its actual release date. Many thought 2025 would be the year when Nike would actually get its act together and launch it, but that too passed, and now this major reveal from Sole Retriever.

The news, though, isn’t officially confirmed, but Sole Retriever has built a reputation for being credible in these matters, and that is what is making fans optimistic. While CC fans are still waiting for an official confirmation from Nike, the news does seem positive for the sneakerheads.

Caitlin’s news might still need its two-step verification, but A’ja Wilson’s travel itinerary is pretty much confirmed. Wilson’s voyage will include stops in Paris, London, Berlin, and Hilversum, where she will look to motivate the next-gen of hoopers in basketball.

Ironically, this would also be A’ja’s first global tour with Nike Basketball after signing with the brand in 2018. A’ja Wilson is one of the most notable figures in women’s basketball. A three-time WNBA champion, four-time MVP, three-time Defensive Player of the Year, and two-time Olympic gold medalist continues to grow her impact on the game.

So, who else can be a better role model to lead the youngsters than the 29-year-old superstar? A’ja and Caitlin are two very big names in women’s basketball today, and Nike really knows how to leverage their brand even further with associations with these players.

Speaking of Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever star recently received a message from NBA legend LeBron James.

Caitlin Clark Receives Powerful Message From LeBron James

Remember when Caitlin had praised LeBron for his dedication to the sport, as the power forward had given up alcohol and desserts for nearly two months. Caitlin had clearly said that this sacrifice was something that she wouldn’t have been able to make, and joked that if it came between giving up her favorite food and his career, she would have to give up her career.

However, LeBron has refuted that statement and believes Caitlin is just being too modest, underplaying her abilities. While James understands why a 23-year-old Clark, just entering the prime of her career, would be unwilling to take the extreme route in her rehab, he also recognizes that Caitlin wouldn’t be willing to give up on her career this easily and succumb to temptations.

“When it started, I don’t know. But it’s been there for quite a while, and she’s disciplined as well. I guarantee if she had to give up something in order to get her back on the floor, she’ll do it as well,” said the NBA’s all-time leading point scorer.

Discipline has never been an issue for Caitlin. Right from her days under Lisa Bluder at Iowa, despite being a superstar, she had to learn accountability and discipline. A valuable lesson that she still carries with her today as she has crossed the threshold of college and moved to the WNBA.
