The last WNBA season was expected to be one of the best of Clark’s career, as she entered her Sophomore year, and in some ways, it still was. The Indiana Fever star continued expanding her reach off the court, from appearances on the golf course to work through her nonprofit, while also announcing the launch date for her signature shoe. But when it came to actually playing ball, things didn’t unfold the way many expected.

Just after 13 games in the season, she was sidelined from the matchups because of a right groin injury. Since then, Caitlin Clark has been nothing but positive when it came to her recovery and return to the court. So when the announcement from the 5v5 league went viral, fans couldn’t help but wonder if this could be the stage where she plays next.

AU Pro Basketball operates far differently from traditional leagues like the WNBA. Instead of fixed teams, the league runs on a weekly draft system, with rosters constantly reshuffled throughout the season. Forty players compete each week, and the top four performers on the individual leaderboard earn captain roles, giving them the power of drafting new teams from scratch before the next slate of games.
So players compete for an individual title based on a detailed scoring system that rewards both winning and statistical production. Points are earned through quarter wins and game wins, while individual stats like scoring, assists, rebounds, and steals add to a player’s total, with turnovers and missed shots counting against them.

After each game, additional points are handed out through MVP voting by both players and fans. With that setup, it’s easy to understand why fans are eager to see their favorite stars tested in an environment like that.

Clark has already begun getting back into competitive action after months away from the court. In December 2025, she attended a Senior National Team Training Camp at Duke University, marking her debut with USA Basketball’s senior program. The session allowed her to play alongside other rising stars, including Paige Bueckers, Angel Reese, Cameron Brink, and Aliyah Boston, while receiving guidance from Team USA head coach Kara Lawson and her Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White, who served as an assistant coach.

The camp was a first step toward Team USA’s upcoming schedule, including the World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Puerto Rico this March and the main FIBA World Cup in Berlin this September. But that didn’t stop fans from imagining what it would look like if Caitlin Clark suited up in a tournament so fast-paced and energetic that there isn’t a single moment to miss.
Another fan took a dig at Unrivaled, the 3×3 league, and added, “I wish you all the biggest success, it’s REAL basketball 5 on 5, unlike that summer camp 3×3 joke league currently playing in a game show studio.” While one wrote, “Ngl it would be huge if Caitlin did this.”
The league has already confirmed several established names for the upcoming season, including Tina Charles, Alysha Clark, and Lexie Brown, along with emerging talent such as Te-Hina Paopao, ensuring fans are in for nonstop high-level action.

One fan simply wrote, “Caitlin Clark?”
However, as of now, there is no confirmation that Caitlin Clark will suit up for AU Pro Basketball this season. While fans continue to speculate, it seems unlikely, given that Clark has emphasized that her focus this year remains on the WNBA season with the Indiana Fever and Team USA. Still, the mere idea of seeing her take the floor in AU is enough to keep excitement high.
