When Paige and Azzi first saw each other, they were just teenagers vying for a spot on a USA Basketball team at summer camp. And back then, their dynamic was nothing like what it is today. Azzi initially saw Paige as “this skinny little white girl” on the court. And she didn’t hold back in making that clear either. “I watched her play and I was like, ‘Oh, I have nothing to worry about with this girl,’” Fudd admitted. “Like, ‘I have a better chance of making it than her.’” So, yes, it started off more as a light rivalry between two young hoopers. But fast forward to today, and it’s no longer that, and not even just a friendship anymore!

That’s because the two are now officially partners for life, having publicly come out as a couple just before the All-Star Game. It all began when Paige nailed a series of questions about her “D1 girlfriend” in a Wag Talk game. Of course, the clues had been piling up – Azzi’s “P” charm necklace or the one shaped like a 5 completing a heart, that phone case reading “Paige Bueckers’ Girlfriend,” and all those TikToks. But this moment marked the first time they stepped out from behind the blushes and inside jokes. So, is the hiding finally over? Not exactly. It’s just evolved into something a little more sophisticated.

Azzi Fudd made her first public appearance supporting her girlfriend post-All-Star break during the Dallas Wings’ game against the New York Liberty. But she was probably seated in the players’ family section, not in the VIP one – perhaps intentionally. After all, Fudd has previously drawn long queues of fans eager for selfies when she supported the rookie sensation. Those seats aren’t bad, but definitely inconspicuous. So, as it seems, she probably preferred sneakily watching the game, taking photos with Paige, and hanging out afterward. But even while staying away from the spotlight, she made sure her support didn’t go unnoticed.

Fudd posted an Instagram story with the caption, “Great way to start the game,” after Dallas shared a clip of Bueckers knocking down the game’s first shot—from up in the crowd, no less. She even pulled up in a custom fit that said it all: “I ❤️ (with a number 5 inside it) PB.” So yes, technically, “I love PB.” A unique and adorable way to show love for your partner, right? Even broadcasters couldn’t help but gush—“That is so cute,” one said during the telecast. But, Fudd, she wasn’t just showing support; she was becoming Paige Bueckers’ lucky charm.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Azzi Fudd truly Paige Bueckers' lucky charm, or just a supportive partner in the stands?

Have an interesting take?

Just yesterday, Dallas had a mere 39% chance to win, according to ESPN. It made sense, too. While the Wings are one of the bottom teams in the standings, the Liberty sit near the top, just behind the Lynx. And no one was even expecting Paige to play, as she had been listed as out for rest previously. But she made a surprise return, a once-in-a-while opportunity, especially with Liberty missing Breanna Stewart, Kennedy Burke, and Nyara Sabally.

And Bueckers did what she does best—she hooped. Shooting with confidence, driving the offense, and helping Dallas hand New York a shocking 92–82 loss at the College Park Center. And finally, the former UConn star dropped 20 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals, seamlessly orchestrating alongside Arike Ogunbowale, who also posted 20 points and a game-high 14 assists.

But they weren’t alone. The duo, joined by Luisa Geiselsöder, combined for 38 first-half points, outscoring the entire Liberty team by two. Despite a late 20–7 fourth-quarter surge by New York, the damage was already done. The Wings had led 63–36 at halftime, putting up franchise-best numbers in field goals (26) and assists (20) for a single half. So yeah, Paige is quickly becoming a reliable presence for Dallas. But does Azzi have anything to do with it?

Is Azzi Fudd Paige’s real lucky charm?

Remember Caitlin Clark during the offseason? She often showed up at Butler games to support her boyfriend, who’s on the Bulldogs coaching staff. And fans began calling her a lucky charm for the team. That’s kind of what’s happening with Azzi Fudd now—she’s showing up frequently to support her girlfriend on the court.

But let’s break it down—is she really a lucky charm? When Paige entered the WNBA Draft, Azzi was right by her side. Bueckers was selected No. 1 overall in the 2025 class. Just days later, Fudd, missing her partner during the NCAA offseason, returned to support her courtside.

Her first appearance came on May 21st against the Minnesota Lynx. Fudd’s presence drew massive attention, with fans lining up for selfies. But the Wings lost 85–81. Three days later, she showed up again for the Wings’ matchup against the Atlanta Dream—and even posted a TikTok saying she gets the “princess treatment every time” she’s with Bueckers. Yet again, it ended in an 83–75 loss.

Then, Fudd took a short break from courtside appearances. She returned on June 20th, sharing a photo wearing Bueckers’ jersey after the Wings’ narrow 86–83 win over the Connecticut Sun. But two days later, she switched gears, supporting the Washington Mystics while wearing Georgia Amoore’s jersey during their game against Dallas. That time, the Wings lost 91–88.

Then came the All-Star Game, where Team Collier (with PB) won—and now, this recent game against the Liberty, where Dallas finally snapped a two-game losing streak. So if you’re keeping score, Fudd’s been in attendance for about six games: three wins, three losses. That’s a 3–3 record. So… is she really a lucky charm? Well, maybe not by the numbers—but in Paige’s world, just her presence might be the only charm that matters!
