Following her first-round defeat at the ongoing French Open, Swiss WTA star Belinda Bencic seems to be enjoying her time off the court. The 26-year-old compatriot of Swiss legend Roger Federer only recently came back from injury and made her way back into the big stage at Roland Garros. She was forced to withdraw from the Madrid Open and Italian Open during the lead-up to Roland Garros due to a hip injury that caused her problems earlier in the season as well.
Although she fell short in the first round of the French Open, she departed on a positive note as she aims to slowly get back to her best. Now, she looks to make the most of her recovery time, as she was seen trying her hand at a new sport.

The Tokyo Olympics gold medalist is making the most of her time in what seems to be her recovery phase. In a bid to rejuvenate herself just after returning to the court after a hip injury, she tried her hand at a completely new sport – ice hockey. In a recent Instagram story, Bencic shared a video of her gliding on ice all decked up with proper ice hockey gear. “It also felt a lot faster than it really looks on video😅🐌”, she captioned the video. She seemed to be relishing every moment of her experience of gliding on the ice.
This might serve as the perfect break she needs to finally get back to her original best on the tennis court. With injury spoiling most of her clay-court season, she will definitely hope to find her rhythm back heading into the grass-court season ahead of Wimbledon. An experience as refreshing as trying out a new sport will certainly help the Swiss.
