“…from Compton to Country,” Serena Williams once wrote on her Instagram, embracing her love for farm life while sharing glimpses of her sprawling Florida farm. Fast forward two years, and she’s back. The tennis icon is currently in Florida, attending the TGL and passionately cheering for her team, LAGC. And, this time, she is showcasing her knowledge about trees. In yet another surprise for fans, the tennis icon offers a rare sneak peek into her pantry, once again highlighting her naturalist lifestyle for the tennis fraternity.

Yesterday brought disappointment for Serena and her family as they watched their team LAGC suffer a tough defeat against ‘Atlanta Drive GC’. However, after the match, Serena found solace in nature, retreating to her Florida farm, where she offered fans a small yet serene glimpse of her lush green garden. And, recently, she drew attention to her kitchen, showing off her vegan diet with plant-based foods.

Just a few hours ago, the tennis icon gave fans a glimpse into her ‘wellness routine’ through her IG stories. She shared a short video showcasing her collection of Moringa and Soursop leaves: key ingredients in her homemade hot tea. She also unveiled two packets of these leaves, rich in nutrients, along with bowls of freshly dehydrated leaves from her farm. “This is my drawer full of treats, this is Moringa leaves I pull them from the tree, dehydrate them. And this is gold, this is my soursop leaves also pulled them from the tree. I dehydrate them,” she said while later showing off honey collected from her firm.

The co-founder of the plant-based food company ‘Kindred Foods,’ Serena‘s plant-based lifestyle isn’t just about dominating the court: it’s a testament to her dedication to health and self-care. The tennis icon made the switch to veganism in 2011 after battling a pulmonary embolism and a hematoma prioritizing not just peak performance but total well-being. Another reason for switching to Veganism was to support her sister Venus Williams, who was advised to try a raw vegan diet after being diagnosed with Sjögren’s syndrome.

For Serena, food is more than fuel, as it’s a way to nourish her body inside out. Her adoption of a clean-eating lifestyle proved transformative, culminating in a 2021 interview with Women’s Health at a Nintendo event where she shared her insights on nutrition and wellness. “My philosophy is – eat to live. Don’t live to eat. I want to have a healthy lifestyle and, so you know, [I’m eating] a lot of greens and mostly plant-based lately just super healthy stuff,“ she added. And, even in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Williams said that watching the documentary Forks Over Knives “really opened my eyes to the impact that animal agriculture has on our planet”. That’s not all!

In 2022, Williams expanded her veganism story beyond her diet by investing in “WILE,” a ‘vegan hormonal wellness’ brand designed for women over 40. But that’s just one piece of her plant-based empire! The 23-time GS winner is also an investor in “Impossible Foods”, a leading plant-based meat brand backed by high-profile figures like Bill Gates and even singer Katy Perry. And for vegan fashion, Serena makes sure sustainability meets the style! Her clothing line S by Serena (discontinued its collection last year) showcases a range of chic pieces crafted from vegan materials that include vegan leather, suede, and silk.

And, apart from veganism, Serena also shares love for animals, as she often calls herself a proud dog mother.

“I’m going to live on a farm and have fifty dogs” — Serena Williams and her love for her dogs

Serena Williams embraces a life of sharing: not just with her family and friends, but with her beloved four-legged companions as well. While she keeps the most intimate details of her life private, there’s no secrecy when it comes to her adorable dogs. They’ve become fan favorites, often making appearances in Serena’s social media updates, proving that her love extends far beyond the tennis court.

Williams’ love for dogs runs deep! Her first pup, ‘Jackie Pete,’ a Jack Russell Terrier bred for fox hunting, named after the American tennis legend, Pete Sampras, was her loyal companion until his passing in 2015. She honored him with a heartfelt Instagram tribute

Lauerlei, the ‘Shih Tzu’ with a fluffy white coat and big puppy eyes was another beloved member of her furry family. After her passing in 2022, Serena paid tribute once again, sharing a series of touching photos, including moments with ‘Jackie and Chip’. She had another pet dog, Christopher Chip Rafael Nadal, who made more appearances on social media than any other of her pets.

Serena’s love for her pets was visible even when she was interviewed by Animal Fair. “I just love animals. I always think when I get older I’m going to live on a farm and have fifty dogs! I love just love dogs!” she remarked. Now that’s quite a wish, isn’t it? What do you think about it?
