“Just a typical Tuesday night, I mean morning with a 4-year-old child that is set on making my life difficult,” Taylor Townsend shared last month on IG, posting a glimpse of the chaos created by her son, Adyn. Since giving birth in 2021, the WTA pro has juggled motherhood and tennis with admirable strength. And having taken time off from the clay court swing to bond with her hype man, Townsend is now preparing to head to Paris for the French Open.
After a scary concussion at the Miami Open forced her into a break, Taylor Townsend has confirmed she’s returning for the French Open starting May 25. She shared with fans that the injury, sustained during a quarterfinal doubles match, was a mild concussion that worsened over time, needing rest and recovery. And with the clay court GS now in sight, Townsend has begun her journey to Paris, but not without a deeply emotional farewell to the biggest supporter in her life: her son, Adyn.
Just a couple of hours ago, Townsend took to IG to post a heartfelt series of stories. In the 1st, she was seen writing a note on a board at home, with her dog walking into the room. She captioned it, “Writing one last note before I go.”

The message she left behind for her 4-year-old son read: “ADYN, I am so proud of you. These last two months with you has been so fullfiling and incredible. Always remember… No matter how faraway I am, I am Always with you! I love you to the moon, Stars, and above Love, Mommy.” Her next story carried the emotional weight of her goodbye, captioned, “Brbbb going to cry again.”

In a heart-melting 3rd clip, Townsend was seen lying in bed, playing with Adyn, who showered her with adorable compliments for mum. “I like your beautiful hair, beautiful lips, your beautiful coat, beautiful hair, nose,” said Adyn, prompting Townsend to smile and ask, “why are you so perfect?” The exchange ended with the two saying “I love you” to each other, their bond radiating through the screen. She captioned the story, “Men.. take a page out of ajs book.”
In the 4th and perhaps the most poignant clip, the WTA ace gave fans a glimpse into why parting with her son is so difficult. “Now yall see why I be sad to leave him.. I won’t find a better hype man,” she wrote as Adyn continued saying “I love you” and even complimented her eyebrows with a cheerful “good!” In the final story, she showed herself en route to France for the clay courts, captioning the story with a simple but weighted, “And we are off…”
This isn’t the 1st time Taylor Townsend has expressed how emotional it is to leave her son, Adyn, behind. Back in February, the American tennis star opened up in an interview, revealing, “Me looking at my son’s eyes and telling him, Hey, I’m leaving, but I’m going to come back with a trophy…I mean that with everything in me because my word is everything to me, and that’s what I teach him.”
And now, as she sets off for the clay court season, Townsend also reflected on her evolution, sharing heartfelt insights into how she’s grown and matured in her role as a tennis mom.

“You got to let go,” Taylor Townsend opens up about how she’s grown as a tennis mom
“Being a parent makes you want to pull your hair out!” Taylor Townsend admitted in 2023, a candid confession that resonates with countless parents nowadays. Yet for the spirited 29-year-old, motherhood has become a role she embraces fully, even amid the whirlwind pace of her professional tennis career on tour. In a heartfelt conversation with Essence, Townsend opened up about navigating the chaos of elite sport, international travel, and raising her son, Adyn.
Discussing the constant balancing act, she reflected, “It’s more so, like, learning and understanding when to push…you want to be in control but you’re not in control, so you can control what you can, and what you can’t, you got to let go.” Interestingly, Townsend once believed she’d never want children, but now, she treasures the joy and perspective Adyn brings to her life.
As time marched on, the demands only grew, and so did her strength. During the Middle East swing of the tour in February this year, Townsend found herself apart from Adyn for 6 long weeks. Though the separation tugged at her heart, she made space for reflection and self-growth.

Now, as Townsend sets her sights on the clay courts of Paris, she carries both determination and a mother’s love. Will this chapter bring another title?
