Raducanu is yet to find a footing in her first proper full season
Emma Raducanu was supposed to start her season at the Melbourne Summer Set. However, she withdrew from the tournament because she was still dealing with her bout of COVID-19. The tournament she began her season with instead, was the Sydney International where she lost to Elena Rybakina 6-0, 6-1 in the very first round.
2020 marked her first Australian Open, where she overcame Grand Slam champion and former World Number 3, Sloane Stephens, in the first round. But she lost to Danka Kovinić in the second, citing a blister on her racquet hand as the reason for her performance in the match.

Now that she has withdrawn from Monterrey, the next tournament on her schedule is Indian Wells. “I was having an amazing time, but I got hurt in my last match and that means I can’t play,” she clarified. The tournament, also known as the BNP Paribas Open, is scheduled from 9th March. If she is fit enough to play, Raducanu will get a bye in the first round. This is because of her career-high WTA ranking of 12.
