An astounding range of collection of sports gear and clothing will be put up for auction at Sotheby’s. This auction will feature various sports apparels and equipment like baseballs signed by Babe Ruth and Jackie Robinson and sneakers designed for tennis legend Serena Williams.

Sotheby’s New York will auction off pieces of sports history. “INVICTUS,” an online auction will place items associated with sporting legends from various fields and eras up for bidding. This auction will feature sports pieces from legends like Michael Jordan, Serena Williams, Dennis Rodman, and Jackie Robinson.

Serena Williams’ sneakers will be put up for auction

After Serena Williams’ final US Open match, a pair of her personally signed tennis shoes, designed by fashion icon Virgil Abloh, will go up for auction.

These Nike x Off-White Blazer sneakers were designed by the fashion icon Virgil Abloh for the 2018 “QUEEN” Collection. It honored Serena Williams and also commemorated the 50th anniversary of the US Open.

Serena Williams has signed this pair of sneakers. The pair of shoes comes with a letter from James Spence Authentication verifying the signature. Sotheby’s was provided with visual evidence of Serena signing the sneaker. The estimated winning bid of Williams’ sneakers would be around  $5,000-$10,000.

Serena Williams is without a doubt was at the pinnacle of the tennis world for well over two decades. She is one of the sport’s most successful players, having won 23 Grand Slams. Serena was born in 1981 in Michigan, the youngest of five girls. Serena and her sister Venus were raised in Compton, California, and began training with their father, Richard.

Following their debuts in the mid-1990s, at the 1999 US Open, Serena won her first Grand Slam title by defeating the top seed Martina Hingis. The following year, her sister, Venus, also won her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon.

In addition to winning singles matches at Grand Slam competitions, the sisters won 14 Grand Slam titles in doubles and three Olympic gold medals as a pair. As a result, many people consider Serena as the ‘G.O.A.T’ of the Open Era.
