Simona Halep Incredibly Turns Around the Tough Battle Against Caroline Garcia at Miami Open 2021

The third seed in Miami Open 2021, Romanian Simona Halep, took on French professional Caroline Garcia in the Round of 64. Surprisingly, the match turned out to be more exciting than expected.
Notably, it was the first match for the World No. 3 after her stunning loss against Serena Williams at the Australian Open quarterfinals. Despite the break, she did not look good on the court.
Moreover, the 27-year-old French player showed enough resolution to create a big upset in Miami. She played some exceptional winners that her opponent could only watch as they passed by her.

The match started with fireworks happening from both sides of the court. To begin with, Simona Halep delivered a solid backhand close to the line in the second game.

In response, Garcia became edgier to get past the defensive shield of the Romanian. Chiefly, she did not give up on returning the balls; instead, she returned them well.

At 2-3, Halep was ready to serve to keep the opening set equal, offering her challenger an open window into the match. With a clean 0-40 break, the Frenchwoman led the way to take the first set.
Eventually, Garcia maintained her composed rhythm and put her one feet in the door to the next round. The French professional won the set 3-6 against the two-time Grand Slam champion from Romania. Concerningly, the Romanian also took a medical time out in between the match.

Set Two: Fight back for Simona
Despite a stunning volley in her opening serve of the second set, the worry for the Romanian continued. As a result, she gave away a break to her opponent and a ticket to the next round.

However, the ardent tennis fans never lose hope in Halep. Desperately in need of a miracle, the 29-year-old Romanian looked for help, trailing at 3-6, 1-4* at one point. But she came through it in no time and took the lead for the first time.
At 5-4, Garcia fought hard to keep the games in the second set at level but eventually lost to the newfound power from Halep. The match was leveled at 3-6, 6-4.

Halep vs Garcia: The decider set
Things had turned around upside down in an hour and 26 minutes of tennis between the Romanian and the French professional. Most importantly, Halep was not going to go away this time around.
The third seed found an upper hand against her opponent and took up the final set one-sidedly. Without giving a game away, Halep dominated the final set with her formidable big serve and volley combination. After winning seven straight games, the Romanian won 3-6, 6-4, 6-0.

Following the incredible victory, Halep will meet the winner of the match between American Coco Gauff and Anastasija Sevastova in the next round.
