January 2022 was a difficult month for Chris Evert. The 21-time grand slam champion was diagnosed with Stage 1C ovarian cancer, a harrowing diagnosis. After she was free of cancer Navratilova also found herself with cancer. The Czech-American found out she had stage 1 throat cancer. Friends in every way, the two had a close diagnosis. But fortunately, along with others, they had each other to lean on.

Evert rushed to Navratilova when she first found out about the illness. Thankfully, their bond was maintained, and the two overcame the disease and are now on a path to 100% recovery.
