Since his debut in 2019, Kenny Omega has been a massive star in AEW. Joining The Elite and his feud with the likes of Chris Jericho cemented him as one of the top stars. However, in 2023, he announced he was taking a break from pro wrestling due to diverticulitis. This is the same medical condition that made Brock Lesnar cut his UFC career short.

However, recently, on Twitch, he announced his interest in returning to the ring. Following this, AEW officially announced his return date.

AEW announces Kenny Omega to return next week on AEW Dynamite

On his Twitch stream, Omega said, “I remember thinking about maybe showing up to Winnipeg.” He went on in detail about how it’s his hometown, and his family was excited, but he was on the fence about showing up. However, AEW began advertising his return for the AEW Dynamite show in Winnipeg. Omega claimed he was still on the fence about it and was only 80% sure. Unfortunately, with the promos of his return, he said that 80 turned into 100.

On X, AEW posted, “Winnipeg’s own @KennyOmegaManX makes his return to #AEW THIS WEDNESDAY.” While fans were excited about this, they were also concerned about Omega’s health. No official word has been given if Omega is medically cleared to wrestle. He may be making a non-wrestling appearance to build up a feud. Fans will see Omega’s return on the May 1, 2024, episode of AEW Dynamite.

Will Omega face off against The Elite?

Since the news broke, fans have been wondering about this very question. After The Elite attacked Khan, there has been no update on where this storyline could be headed. While Khan did attend the NFL Draft in a neck brace, fans want to know what the next step would be. With the announcement of Omega’s return, fans have their theories in mind.

Many have speculated that Omega would bat for Khan and try to take down The Young Bucks. They are currently teamed up with Jack Perry and Kazuchika Okada. One of the dream matches fans have in mind is Omega vs. Okada. Only time will tell how long Omega will take to get into the action.
