Ex-WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar is in an uncomfortable entity in WWE right now. ‘The Beast Incarnate’ was removed from all things WWE after his name came up in the infamous Vince McMahon lawsuit. However, it seems that his name hasn’t died for the fans, and the latest proof of it appeared in a Chris Jericho match at AEW.

Y2J was recently competing in a match against the FTW Champion Hook in the latest episode of AEW Dynamite. The final few minutes of the match saw Lionheart Chris Jericho almost defeat Hook with his ‘The Walls of Jericho’. But, instead of that, something else really got the audience rolling. It was a Brock Lesnar move used by the FTW Champ that they couldn’t help but notice.

Hook and Chris Jericho competed in a match of equals where no fighter could gather a lot of momentum. The to-and-fro movement, however, was broken when the FTW Champion used a German suplex on Jericho. This triggered the “Suplex City” chants the same way the WWE Universe would erupt for Brock Lesnar.

While Hook wasn’t able to pull off the move completely, it didn’t really matter for the AEW crowd. Nonetheless, he was still able to keep Chris Jericho at bay and prevented several submission attempts with his elbows. While the FTW champ received his cheers, Brock Lesnar’s was clearly audible.

The match ended with Lionheart Chris Jericho closing his walls in on Hook once again, only for the Champ to turn things into a pinfall. Thus, he successfully pinned the first AEW World Champion and also earned the respect of Jericho, who fist-bumped him after the match.

The wild stare by Hook towards Chris Jericho was the highlight of the match. But did you know that Lesnar brought the phrase ‘Suplex City’ back into style in 2014? Back then, he decimated John Cena with 16 German Suplexes and won the WWE world title. The phrase soon became synonymous with Lesnar. However, its origins go way back. Taz had used the term at WrestleMania 22 for Kurt Angle, who had delivered multiple suplexes.

But coming back to Brock Lesnar and WWE, the promotion has resurrected digital records of The Beast Incarnate, despite previously almost erasing everything about him.

Ever since The Bloodline’s Wiseman Paul Heyman was inducted into the Hall of Fame, Brock Lesnar seems to have made a digital comeback. While he is still out of all WWE storylines, he was restored to the WWE roster on the official WWE website. Moreover, his WWE 2K24 character was also freed from its shackles.

Brock Lesnar was previously available only through a select game mode on 2K Sports’ latest WWE release. There are speculations that he might get a retirement match soon too.
