Making a movie related to pirates is a dream project for Dwayne Johnson for a long time. He has said several times after watching Johnny Depp starring in Pirates of the Caribbean; that he too wishes to do a similar genre. However, it seems that the stars might have aligned for The Rock to finally appear in the Disney movie’s future franchise.

According to Giant Freakin Robot, Disney might consider Dwayne Johnson in one of the movies. Even though Johnny Depp would never return to play Jack Sparrow, Disney has two movies in the pipeline announced by Jerry Bruckheimer. 

However, as per the same report, there is a third spinoff that might feature The Rock. Now, this is great news for both Disney and DJ as this will help the franchise release more films in the future.

After his performance in the Jungle Cruise, ‘The Great One’ will really play a pirate, adding his own unique style. The Pirates of the Caribbean has earned $4.5 billion at the box office until now and Johnny Depp starred in all the editions of the famous franchise.

There are also talks for a Jungle Cruise sequel with Emily Blunt and DJ returning to reprise roles. If that happens, The Brahma Bull will have two movies in which he would play a similar role. Moreover, he would be happier working in Pirates of the Caribbean movie that made him feel like a kid when he watched it for the first time.

Will Dwayne Johnson replace Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow? 

No doubt, Depp will be the most loved Jack Sparrow, but the question is, will The Rock do the role of Jack Sparrow? As per The Scotsman reporting, Disney dropped him from the sixth movie after the “abuse allegations by his ex-wife Amber Heard”.

As of now, one of the spinoff already has Margot Robbie starring in it. There are few details for the second and third unannounced films. However, by looking at the star power and a good relationship with Disney, he can take over the role of Jack Sparrow. But there is no official news or rumor stating the studio is considering DJ for Depp’s role.

Additionally, Disney will take into consideration the box office collection of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. This was the movie in which the franchise replaced Depp’s role with actor Mads Mikkelsen.

We will know the future of the above rumors in the later stages, when the second and third spinoffs will be proclaimed. DJ’s inclusion in the franchise will give future movies a new direction after Depp’s departure.
