Earlier this year, The Elite, comprising The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and Adam Page, was heavily speculated to leave AEW and join WWE as their contract with Tony Khan’s company was coming to an end. However, a recent development has put the past rumors to rest. This is bad news for WWE, coupled with Vince McMahon’s ongoing legal trouble. According to a new report, The Elite members have extended their contract with AEW.

Kenny Omega, Adam Page, Young Bucks, and Cody Rhodes were the founding fathers of AEW. After Cody Rhodes decided to move to WWE fans were almost convinced that the rest of EVPs would follow suit at some point. But it turns out that they are going to further their careers at AEW. McMahon’s company is dealing with two setbacks at this point.

WWE was rumored to be interested in signing The Elite prior to the formation of AEW in 2019. The popular faction, however, did not join the company. Instead, they banded together to form AEW. That said; it was also reported earlier that Kenny Omega was at the end of his AEW contract. This led to speculation about him joining the Stamford-based company.

In an official statement, AEW announced that The Elite has signed a long-term extended contract with Tony Khan’s company. This was announced ahead of the 200th edition of AEW: Dynamite. This means Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page, and The Young Bucks will remain with the company and continue serving as Executive Vice Presidents besides their on-screen roles.

It should be noted that Omega and Page are former AEW Champions, and The Bucks are two-time AEW World Tag Team Champions. After extending their deal with AEW, Tony Khan told Sports Illustrated, “The Elite have been so important to the launch of AEW, with the Young Bucks going all in when I first approached them in 2018 about my dream to create an international pro wrestling promotion,” Furthermore, Khan added that all four members have been instrumental to AEW’s success from day one.

By the looks of things, WWE is hit with a double whammy considering that Vince McMahon is shrouded in controversy again.

Vince McMahon gets a subpoena and a search warrant

Last year, Vince McMahon was forced to step down from his role due to his alleged misconduct allegations and hush money payments. However, the WWE patriarchy strong-armed his way back to his company earlier this year.

In an official statement, WWE stated that it believes that the subpoena and search warrant are “a continuation of the investigation that commenced last summer. WWE has cooperated throughout and fully understands and respects the government’s need for a complete process.”

McMahon has maintained his innocence. He told CNBC that he has always “denied any intentional wrongdoing” and will continue to do so. That’s not it, WWE also reported that McMahon is currently on medical leave as he underwent spinal surgery. The date of his return remains unknown.
