The American football minor league, XFL has faced some ups and downs. It was previously owned by Vince McMahon, proprietor of WWE. It was bought up by Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia in mid-2020. Johnson has had a personal interest in the XFL. Since he was unable to play in the NFL, he made sure coaches and players with caliber who couldn’t make it to the NFL get their break at XFL.

However, despite having the star’s backing, the league was unable to avoid losses. In the year 2023, XFL and Johnson faced a crushing $60 million worth of loss. But, the star might have a way to cover these losses.

Fans present at SmackDown last week were surprised by The Rock’s return. Especially since no one had anticipated his return. The star posted a clip of his explosive entrance from his point of view. Johnson can be seen walking through the curtains to the crowd’s cheering. Just hours after the post, the video amassed a view count of over 5 million people, speaking for the star’s power.

This particular segment created a lot of buzz. While Johnson’s POV clip had a pretty huge reaction, the same was true for other clips of his entrance. The clip posted by WWE, where The Brahma Bull can be seen walking towards the ring, also went viral. The video garnered a total of 6.4 million views since it was posted. And the biggest reason could be the fact that fans couldn’t get enough of his iconic entry. This was proven when fans poured into the comments section on the clip posted by Johnson to say how ‘electrifying’ his entry was.

Thanks to this, Cody Latimer who plays for the Orlando Guardians at XFL, had a special request for the star. Addressing Johnson, he responded to the clip, saying,“we need this entrance at the opening day of @xfl next season.”

Johnson’s plan for XFL

To Latimer’s comment, Johnson replied, “We’ve been thinking about just this!” His response has opened a number of opportunities for both Johnson and XFL. Fans won’t be expecting his ‘surprise’ entry as he pretty much owns the league and his presence there can be speculated. However, what cannot be speculated are two things.

Everybody is aware that Johnson used to play American football and he was even supposed to get drafted for NFL. He had a great career with the Canadian Football League. However, due to numerous injuries, he had to quit. But he still loves the game. So what if his special entry includes a little action on the court?

Another possibility could be a surprise visit by any of his fellow WWE stars. Maybe Dwayne Johnson has unknowingly unlocked the secret ingredient to break records with his recent WWE experience. Maybe he might use the same formula in the field to boost XFL viewings. After making his comment, however, speculations are high on what his next course of action will be.
