Come May 27, the WWE Universe will witness the crowning of a new champion at the Night of Champions PLE in Saudi Arabia. AJ Styles and Seth Rollins will battle it out for the new WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Jeddah Superdome. Ahead of the marquee clash, Styles took an indirect jab at Roman Reigns, WWE’s golden boy, accusing the champion of not doing his job properly.

The Phenomenal One set up his clash with Rollins after emerging victorious as the SmackDown contender.

Styles, 45, spoke about the new WWE belt during a chat with New York Post. He said the promotion had to make a new belt as Reigns holds everything. The former WWE Champion, however, had a major complaint against Reigns’ run as the title holder.

“This guy’s gonna be on the pay-per-views, he’s gonna be on the live events, he’s gonna do all these things that need to be done,” Styles said, taking an apparent dig at Reigns’ lack of showing at live events. “When I was [WWE] champion I was on all the live events, I was on all the pay-per-views, all the TV’s. That’s what you do,” he continued.

Styles also highlighted the work that’s cut out for being the new World Heavyweight title holder. “The price for being the World Heavyweight champion is, yes, you get the recognition of being the champion, but you also have to do the job of being the world champion. You got to be there and you got to do the job,” he said.

Meanwhile, the World Heavyweight Championship has historically belonged to the RAW brand, making one wonder if Seth Rollins has an edge heading into their match.

What happens if The Phenomenal One loses to Seth Rollins at Night of Champions?

A defeat is always a hard pill to swallow, especially in the biggest stage. Ironically, a loss against The Visionary can come as a boon for AJ Styles. Here’s how.

In the recent WWE draft, Seth Rollins was drafted on RAW, while the blue brand picked Styles up. Another prominent wrestler who was picked up by SmackDown was Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. So, a loss would hurt, but it would also allow Styles to challenge Reigns for the belt in the future.

On the other hand, Reigns now has his sights set on the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships. To give shape to his desire, The Big Dog has challenged current champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens at NOC. Reigns will be partnered by his cousin and the Enforcer of The Bloodline, Solo Sikoa.
