Last month, the pro wrestling world lost a true icon. WWE legend and Hall of Famer The Iron Sheik left for his heavenly abode on June 7 at 81 years old. It shook the entire world when the news broke out online. Celebrities like Dwayne Johnson and Triple H were jolted by this news.

Pro wrestling celebrities and millions of fans came together to bid the larger-than-life icon their last goodbyes. When the devastating news hit social media platforms, the reason for Sheik’s demise was unknown. Now, 42 days later, finally, the reason for his death has surfaced online.

The Iron Sheik died of cardiac arrest

TMZ Sports recently obtained Sheik’s death certificate. According to the report, the WWE legend succumbed to a cardiac arrest. Apart from this, the medical personnel also listed congestive heart failure and hypertension as the reason for his passing. Therefore, the cause of death was determined to be natural.

Sheik’s death left the pro wrestling industry heartbroken. Losing a legend like him was difficult to digest for the fans. Many tried to process their sorrows by paying tribute to the late WWE legend. Johnson and ‘Hunter’ were a few among those who paid a special homage to Sheik.

The time Sheik’s wife babysat Dwayne Johnson

‘The Great One’ shared a special relationship with The Iron Sheik. He grew up calling the deceased legend ‘Uncle Sheiky’. His father, Rocky Johnson, and Sheik were wrestling buddies not only in WWE but in NWA as well. Sharing a video on his Twitter feed, Johnson reminisced about the sweet memories he had with his late uncle.

He revealed that when he was 8 years old, Sheik’s wife, Caryl, would babysit him and thanked the lady for putting up with his naughty youthful version. He then acknowledged Sheik’s accomplishments in pro wrestling and described an incident from his initial days in WWE.

When Johnson was a rookie wrestler in WWE, Sheik had his back. The late legend shared a few words of wisdom and told him to watch and learn first, and taught him to distinguish between good people and bad. To this day, ‘The Rock’ feels thankful for the advice, as it helped him a lot in his wrestling career.

Similarly, ‘HHH’ also penned down a few lines to honor the memory of the deceased star. Paying homage to the “all-time great performer,” he cherished Sheik’s career in WWE. He acknowledged how Sheik adopted his Middle Eastern villain in the aftermath of the 1979 Iranian revolution and the US hostage crisis. Triple H also credited him for bringing his character to life in his storyline with ‘All American’ Hulk Hogan.
