Holding the moniker ‘the Beast’ in WWE, Brock Lesnar made his WWE debut in 2002 and joined SmackDown. He would soon become a fan favorite, with his muscles and energy, leaving no one indifferent. Subsequently, Paul Heyman became his manager, and in fact, the latter deemed him the ‘The Next Big Thing.’ Surely enough, Lesanr became one of the biggest stars that the promotion has produced. And the rumor mills and different reports seem to indicate that Brock Lesnar will be back very soon in WWE.

Regardless, Lesnar hasn’t appeared in WWE since August, when he lost to Cody Rhodes. Since that time, the beast incarnate has remained out of the company. In fact, he was even deleted from the company database after being named in the controversies involving Vince McMahon. Since the news of the legal accusation broke, 2K Games decided to no longer promote Brock Lesnar in promotional trailers weeks before the game’s release, and at the time of the game’s official release, in the first update, 2K Games left Lesnar’s character playable only in the WrestleMania 40th Anniversary Showcase. But now, with WrestleMania just around the corner, WWE would want to get Lesnar back, as he is a great attraction for fans.

In fact, they are already making speculations as to whom ‘The Beast’ might face off against once he returns. And a major name that comes up is Gunther. Why? Because that actually was the plan.

A story left incomplete

With his rapid and dominant rise in the ring, Gunther has been positioned by fans in a slew of dream matches against established WWE Superstars. One of them involves Brock Lesnar, a ten-time world champion with a style as aggressive as The Ring General’s. In fact, the WWE too was hinting at the possibility of booking a feud between the two. This is further helped by the fact that this was Gunther’s dream match as well.

As in an interview he said, “You never really know what you get with Brock. It’s definitely a match I want to have and I want to do. I feel Brock is somebody, I just make it my thing, I make him my personal End Boss. That’s the guy that, at one point, I have to step in the ring (with) to validate myself.”

The most recent reports indicated that Gunther was set to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XL. The buildup to this heads-up would have begun with the participation of The Beast Incarnate in the Royal Rumble. But there was another short rivalry that was planned for Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar was set to face the son of a WWE legend

Several reports revealed that Brock Lesnar was set to work with Dominik Mysterio, starting a rivalry that would have extended to Elimination Chamber 2024 in Perth, Australia. This is further proved by Bron Breakker acting as Lesnar’s replacement at the Royal Rumble. The former NXT champion was eliminated from the match by Dirty Dom after a participation of just over five minutes and four eliminations.

In post-event statements, Breakker said his rivalry with Judgment Day is far from over. And while it is unknown if Bron Breakker will continue his journey within the main cast of WWE, the spot and the storyline sure look like something that was written for the Beast.

WWE brought back troubled superstars earlier as well

The WWE is not new to their superstars being named in scandals. And they have time and again proved that they do not take them lightly. Whether it be Chris Benoit or Velveteen Dream, the promotion has still kept themselves far from such controversial superstars. However, there have been exceptions. And really major exceptions to say the least. Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair are two icons of the pro wrestling business. Their impact has been significant in making pro wrestling the popular sport that it is today. But it is hard to forget the controversies that the two have been a part of as well.

Hogan has been a part of several scandals in his part ranging from legal issues to using not-so-positive words for a particular race as well as sexuality. And Ric Flair is no different in terms of being a controversial figure as he too has been a part of controversies. From the infamous ‘plane ride to hell’ to breaking the contract, the ‘Nature Boy’ has had a troublesome life. But despite this, the WWE had allowed the two to appear on WWE programming and at times, be a part of major storylines.
