Cody Rhodes’ Emotional First Words After WWE Return at WrestleMania 38

‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes has finally come back to the WWE. After he left the WWE in 2016, Rhodes worked on the American independent circuit, in Japan, and made his name in AEW as a founding member. Apart from wrestling, he also served as the Executive Vice President for the AEW.

Rhodes proved to be the mystery opponent for Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38. He received a loud ovation from the 77,000+ audience at AT&T Stadium when his moniker popped up.

Cody Rhodes expressed his appreciation for his welcome at WrestleMania 38

After the match, ‘Dashing’ Cody shared a heartwarming message with the WWE Universe on his way back home.

Rhodes mentioned, “Everyone keeps saying the same two words. They say, ‘Welcome home!’ And as flattering as that is, and as much as I appreciate it, I reciprocate the feeling. For the entire career of 16 years, I’ve run away from the specter of Dusty Rhodes.”

The former AEW Star did not appear on WWE programming for the last six years. The WWE Universe was eagerly waiting for Rhodes to get back into the company, especially after the rumors over the last few weeks and hints from Seth Rollins’ promos.

Vince McMahon promised Seth Rollins that he would reveal his mystery opponent once ‘The Visionary’ was in the ring.

Rhodes kicked off his entrance and emerged from beneath the ramp before his signature music (the same song he used in AEW) played. After the music hit, WWE welcomed him with a pyro celebration.

Seth Rollins and Rhodes delivered an exciting and physical bout. After a thrilling back-and-forth contest, Cody Rhodes hit Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins twice with the Cross Rhodes.

‘The American Nightmare’ also paid tribute to his late father, Dusty Rhodes. He delivered a Bionic Elbow and hit a third Cross Rhodes before going for the pin.
