The stage was set for Fastlane, with John Cena and AJ Styles ready to take on Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso. However, before the contract signing could take place, Styles was brutally ambushed by Sikoa and Jimmy. The assault had Styles needing emergency care and being taken away in an ambulance. The duo later attacked Cena as well.

Now, with Styles out of the picture, the next best choice is LA Knight. During his match against The Miz at Payback, Cena was the special guest referee, and fans have been clamoring for Knight and Cena to team up. Unfortunately, Knight tested positive for COVID before SmackDown was shot. He had to be removed from the building and placed in quarantine.

With both Knight and Styles out of the picture and Cena’s tag match already slotted for Fastlane, who will be his partner? The most obvious answer is Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare has recently been feuding with The Judgment Day but has also been looking for vengeance against The Bloodline. After a rub from Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, a tag match with Cena would surely boost Rhodes’s career.

Despite Rhodes being the obvious pick, Randy Orton, could also be a potential partner. Orton has been off television since May 2022 due to a back injury sustained in the tag team unification match. He had to undergo back fusion surgery, which made him unable to perform in the ring. However, Orton was spotted at the Performance Center earlier this week. Couple this with Fightful Select’s reports that The Viper has been visiting the PC for quite some time now, and you have a legend waiting to make his return.

Is Randy Ortan returning to settle the score?

As mentioned earlier, Orton hurt his back in a tag match. The match was RK-Bro vs The Usos, which the legend and his teammate Matt Riddle lost. The Usos were declared the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions, and Orton was sent to the hospital. Now that he is almost back to full health, there is no official statement on Orton’s end. Fans are hoping to see The Viper in action again, and who better than the man he faced 20 times in singles matches? Especially with Orton’s partner, Riddle, now released from the promotion.

Regardless of who teams up with Cena, the match at Fastlane has already been hyped. The possibility of a surprise tag partner has made the match even more exciting. Either way, fans at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, are going to go nuts if Rhodes or Orton’s music hits. With Cena on the promotional poster for the event, fans are super excited for this match in particular. There are also rumors that Roman Reigns could make a comeback to help his tribe out.
