Former WWE superstar and manager Lana aka CJ Perry was recently released. Reports termed her release as a result of pandemic-related budget cuts.
Ahead of her release, Lana was working in Tag Team on Monday Night RAW. She first teamed up with Natalya, then Asuka. Her last tag team in WWE was with former Women’s Champion Naomi.

Recently, Lana was a guest on former WWE and current AEW superstar Chris Jericho‘s “Talk is Jericho” podcast. For the first time, she revealed some interesting details about her career to the day WWE fired her.
Lana was on vacation when she got the call from John Laurinaitis, the Head of Talent Relations. Laurinaitis told her about the 90-day clause and that it was a budget-related cut.
After that, Lana could not even speak to her husband. She revealed, “I was in the middle of texting Mandy [Rose] – we were texting about other things – and I’m like ‘I just got released’. She was the first person I told. I called Nattie (Natalya) immediately. I couldn’t even talk to Miro yet. Nattie had the same reaction.”
Her husband AEW TNT Champion Miro was also a part of WWE. Known as Rusev back then, he was a three-time United States Champion before getting released due to similar budget cuts last year.

Lana reveals the changes she wants in her future contracts
Currently, Lana is under the standard 90-day no-compete clause after release. But there is a high chance that the ‘Ravishing Russian’ would be back in the squared circle and possibly by her husband in AEW.
Hence, she is taking precautions. After all, no one likes to be fired out of nowhere. But at the same time, the departure relieved Lana. She now has some precautions in mind.

“Whatever wrestling contract I have next, if I stay in wrestling which I hope I do, I want a ‘no cut’ clause because that was the worst…living in that state of fear because you don’t know when your ‘future endeavours’ is going to come.”
“I’m such a planner and I had three and a half years left, you know. And I have all these plans – I invest my money, I’m a businesswoman. And it’s just like damn, why? It sucks,” she explained.
