It’s amazing to think what a difference a year can make. Sami Zayn was one of the most hated characters on WWE programming this time last year. Fast forward to now, he is the apple of everyone’s eye. Everything the Canadian does is met with rapturous applause from the crowd. This is in stark contrast to his treatment by the fans, not long ago.

Zayn was embroiled in an entertaining feud with JackAss fame Johnny Knoxville for the first quarter of 2022. Their rivalry culminated in an ‘Anything Goes Match’ at WrestleMania 38. And now the former Intercontinental champion has hit back at WWE regarding his previous opponent.

Sami Zayn makes his displeasure with WWE known

Knoxville celebrated his 52nd birthday on the 11th of March. The WWE Twitter page wished him on the special occasion. The caption for the post read, “Happy Birthday to #RoyalRumble & #WrestleMania match competitor Johnny Knoxville!” This did not sit well with Zayn who responded to the tweet by posting, “Delete This”.

He has clearly not forgotten the ordeal that Knoxville made him go through in their match. The clash featured one of the most innovative spots ever used in the squared circle. From Fire Extinguisher to an enlarged stop sign and mouse trap, everything was used on Zayn. Even the cast of the JackAss franchise got their hands on him.

WWE Superstar Accuses Johnny Knoxville of Not Sharing Profits from Jackass Forever’s Success

No wonder ‘El Generico’ still has nightmares thinking about that dreadful encounter. Even after being over with the fans as a babyface and a main event push, he still hates the sight of Knoxville. The two had a war of words on social media in February as well.

Zayn and Knoxville have had tiffs in the past as well

Knoxville had put out a post on his Instagram account to update his fans on a successful surgery on his arm. Zayn commented on the post, “I call BS. Our match at Wrestlemania in April was too much for you and you held off announcing your injury as long as you could to save face”.

Knoxville was quick to reply, “oh please. The only thing I broke in that match was a sweat and barely. But if u want to go see a doctor then keep it up!”

Sami Zayn has been through a wild ride over the past few months. And even then he was unable to shake off the battle scars given to him by Johnny Knoxville. As Zayn’s social media activity suggests it will take much more time for that to happen. Till then fans can anticipate many more tiffs between the two on social media.
