With WrestleMania inching closer with each passing day, fans start to speculate more about the results of the confirmed matches on the card. Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes‘s main event match falls under the most speculated category. With Reigns being the undefeated Universal Champion for nearly three years now, some fans want him to go further with his undefeated status intact while others want a change.

A major portion of the WWE Universe is rooting for Cody Rhodes, who shows every quality to dethrone the long-lived reign of the Tribal Chief. Many believe that Triple H sees Cody Rhodes as a potential face of the company and hence won’t deprive him of that opportunity. But a recent report may disappoint fans of ‘The American Nightmare’.

As we all know, being a scripted sport, WWE always decides its winners beforehand. But when it’s come to arguably the most important match of WrestleMania Night 2, the company is still undecided on which way to go according to a report.

Less than two weeks ahead of the grandest show of wrestling, a tweet from WrestleVotes put a big question mark on the outcome of the Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns high-profile match. Despite being the major attraction of the entire show, the report clearly depicts that Triple H is yet to make up his mind about the next winner of this Undisputed Universal WWE Championship match.

This tweet comes after a report from givemesport confirming Reign’s ‘significant break’ following the Mania. The report says, “there’s probably a significant break, at least a month even longer, until there’s a major show that requires Roman Reigns. You may not see him until SummerSlam, though. He’ll be away for a little.”

Reflecting on the uncertainty of the future, the report continued, “Adding to this: I’m told this is contingent on if / when Reigns eventually loses the titles. As of now, those plans are not certain.”

However, even if the report puts a temporary hindrance to the flourishing hope for the American Nightmare becoming the next WWE champion, it never totally rules it out.

Cody Rhodes sets out to be a different WWE Champion

Ever since finding his way back to his old wrestling home last year, Cody Rhodes has been unstoppable toward reaching his childhood dream. Though a gruesome injury took some time from him, Rhodes returned at Royal Rumble 2023, to win the ticket to WrestleMania 39’s main event.

Before reaching the next and final stop to his dream, the second-generation WWE superstar revealed his plan after becoming a Universal Champion. Rhodes reflected his wish to have a much busier schedule than Reigns who has picked and chosen his time to wrestle for the company.

Now, it’s only up to the WWE creative to give him the chance to be that one ‘different champion’ and live out his dream.

WrestleMania 39 will take place at Sofi Stadium, California on the 1st and 2nd of April with Rhodes and Reigns likely to meet in the main event of Night Two of the sports entertainment extravaganza.
