Crown Jewel 2023 is highly anticipated by the fans, featuring a roster of great talent. As of now, Seth Rollins will be defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre. However, the Intercontinental Championship and WWE’s Women’s Championship will not feature at the event. WWE confirmed that Gunther and Iyo Sky will be missing the PLE. Despite not being on the cards for the esteemed PLE, the two titles will be on the line in the United States.

The Ring General will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Ricochet and Shinsuke Nakamura. Meanwhile, Iyo Sky will face Charlotte Flair. Both the matches are slated for house shows in New York during the same time as the Crown Jewel PLE.

This news broke due to the courtesy of Dave Meltzer. Despite having the longest Intercontinental reign in the WWE, this would be the third PLE Gunther will miss out on. The last PLE saw Gunther beat Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam 2023.

The stories leading up to Crown Jewel 2023

As mentioned earlier, there are only two confirmed matches for the PLE that take place in Saudi Arabia. The first will feature Rollins vs. McIntyre for the World Heavyweight title. Going into this match, both superstars exchanged an intense promo on the season premiere of RAW. While Rollins claimed he worked hard to get where he’s at, McIntyre claimed he would end it.

Similarly, Ripley dominated the women’s division until the return of Jax. Since Jax came back, the division has faced her wrath. At Crown Jewel, the five women will strive to see who is the more dominating one and will walk away with the title.
