Injuries are a part and parcel of the game; throughout the entire sports industry, athletes often get injured and put out of action. While some nurses their way through these injuries and come back to a bigger reception, others often need to retire because of the severity. Despite not being forced to retire, the second-generation star has suffered in his career due to injuries.

Unlike Bryan Danielson and Edge, Rhodes never had to retire due to injuries. However, it held him back for most of his career. Rhodes is extremely athletic, and a fitness enthusiast. Still, injuries took their toll on him and made him miss out on several opportunities.

Injuries have turned out to be an actual nightmare for The American Nightmare. Cody Rhodes reveals he’s been working with back injuries

In a recent interview, Rhodes revealed how he has been taking working out seriously now. He also revealed how he connects bodybuilding with pro wrestling, and why physique is important. However, working out has a few cons of its own.

Back in 2021, in an interview with GQ, Rhodes revealed how he has the body of a 50-year-old and suffers from a misaligned pelvis. He also has a few herniations in his back. Rhodes has been in the business since he was in his early 20s. And thus, being in the ring, and training hard, has resulted in several injuries.

These injuries result in Rhodes being extremely limited in the way he works out. Back in 2015, Rhodes was also put out of action after suffering a neck injury during his match against Jack Swagger. However, apart from these, Rhodes also suffered a concussion, and a separated shoulder injury back in 2012. He would then reveal on his Twitter account how he tore several shoulder muscles and even separated them.

Everything you need to know about WWE star Cody Rhodes’ pectoral muscle injury

After Rhodes made his much-awaited comeback at WWE WrestleMania 38, he found himself going up against The Visionary. However, Rhodes would injure his pectoral muscle while training before his Hell in a Cell match against Rollins.

The news broke a few hours before his match and the fans were in complete shock. However, what was more shocking was that he still continued with the match, even after his gruesome injury. Both the stalwarts put forward one of the best matches of the night. And despite being injured, Rhodes did not hold back and put forward an excellent showcase of moves.

As per a report from WWE, Rhodes would initially suffer the injury during a brawl with Rollins. However, it would only aggravate during his training session prior to his match. While the injury he suffered was a minor one during his brawl, it completely tore apart while training.

However, Dave Meltzer reported that the injury Rhodes suffered was during his training, and not inside the wrestling ring.

The American Nightmare’s injury was extremely severe, and he had to be out for several months, nursing and undergoing rehab. While WWE announced a longer return period, he would come back early during Royal Rumble 2023, and win the event.

When did Cody Rhodes injure his face?

Throughout his career, Rhodes has suffered multiple injuries, including some brutal facial injuries. Back in 2019, during AEW Full Gear, Rhodes suffered a gory facial injury after a botched dive to the outside, when he face planted himself on the ramp.

The injury required Rhodes to undergo eight stitches.

Rhodes would botch the dive, and fall face-first on the ramp, leading to the brutal-looking gash on his forehead. A few years ago, on the road to WrestleMania 27, Rhodes would suffer a facial injury at the hands of Rey Mysterio. However, while many believed it to be real, people considered the injury to be kayfabe and a work.

Cody Rhodes has suffered a lot but never gave up on himself. And after suffering through painful moments and injuries, Rhodes is finally getting what he deserves, a main-event match at WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns.
