“He’s With the Boss’ Daughter”: WWE Legend Opens Up on Rumors of Having Heat With Triple H

Triple H had a pretty long in-ring career. Thus, he had come across several individuals in the past with whom ‘The Game’ has shared great rivalries. And one such individual is Rob Van Dam. The two men gave their all in the ring to get the better of each other during their matches.
But there have also been rumors about Triple H and Rob Van Dam having some heat between them. Rob Van Dam and ‘The Game’ fought against each other in 2002. During an episode of Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling Podcast, RVD opened up on the rumors about having heat with Triple H.

Rob Van Dam said, “I wasn’t happy about the situation at the time. Again, competitive state of mind, you don’t look at it when you’re across the ring from him and you’re both competing for the love of the crowd. You don’t look at it like, Hey, this guy is not a CEO, but whatever his position was at the time, is qualified to make important decisions. He sits in the meetings. He’s one of the guys that directs the paths of where the whole show is going.”

The former WWE star further added, “You look at it more like, ‘It’s not fair just because he’s with the boss’ daughter.’ Really, there’s so many more variables to it that you just don’t consider at that time.” (H/T: WrestlingNews.co)
Triple H and Rob Van Dam Had a Major Rivalry for the World Heavyweight Championship in 2002
In September 2002, Rob Van Dam became the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. He then began his feud with ‘The Game’, who was the World Heavyweight Champion back then.
RVD and ‘Triple H‘ competed against each other for the title at WWE Unforgiven, 2002. Triple H successfully defended the title on that night, following the interference from Ric Flair. But RVD got his revenge on Flair at WWE No Mercy.

After that, Rob Van Dam once again set his sights on Triple H’s World Heavyweight Championship. He competed in an Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship along with Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Kane, Chris Jericho, and Booker T at WWE Survivor Series 2002. Neither Triple H nor Rob Van Dam won that match. Shawn Michaels emerged as the champion on that night.

In November, ‘The Game’ interfered in a World Heavyweight Championship match between RVD and Shawn Michaels. He attacked Rob Van Dam. Thus, the match ended in a disqualification and Rob Van Dam could not get his hands on the title.

A few days later, Triple H and RVD once again competed against each other in a singles match to determine the no.1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. And ‘The Game’ emerged as the winner and became the number one contender for Shawn Michaels’ World Heavyweight Championship.
