These are surely tumultuous times in the wrestling world, particularly WWE. The shocking announcement of the former chairman Vince McMahon’s return was just the start of the thread.

And the bombshell news since of his taking over as the head of the board of directors has surprised many. The resignation of daughter Stephanie McMahon meant that things were moving quite fast. While many fans are not happy with McMahon’s return, one WWE Hall of Famer is happy that he is back.

The comments were made on last week’s events and were recorded before what unfolded yesterday. Nevertheless, McMahon’s return has not been welcome within many quarters.

There are many who are content with his comeback at the helm of the promotion. Wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is certainly among those names as he has made clear in his recent To Be The Man podcast.

Flair said, “Well, first of all, it’s not about who I like in that place. I personally love Vince McMahon. So I’m glad that he’s back. I worked for his dad in 1976, I’ve been with the McMahon family for a long time off and on. He gave me life when I didn’t have life. He and Hunter brought me back, we’ve discussed that 100 times. I’ve got all the time in the world for him. I honestly believe that he lives and breathes the business, and he just said to himself, ‘I own all this stuff. It’s mine, I built it, I want back in.’ I don’t blame him“.

It has not been even a year since the allegations against McMahon made their way public. He was accused of allegedly paying hush money last July. The former chairman was forced out of business due to the severe backlash that ensued.

He had to relinquish his seat on the board as well as any creative control and chairman’s role in the promotion.

The end of 2022 was great for Flairs

Flair was quite jubilant at the last SmackDown of 2022. His daughter Charlotte Flair returned and captured the women’s title for the 14th time in her illustrious career. And in turn, moved closer to her father’s record of 16 world titles.

Coming back to Vince McMahon, he has certainly bided his time and pounced at the right moment. They rightly credited him for his role in building the promotion and building names such as Hulk Hogan.

However, his return and possible plans to sell the WWE have angered many. It’ll be interesting to know Ric Flair’s views now, but he was certainly content last week.
