Cody Rhodes, the WWE Royal Rumble 2023 winner, has once again captured the spotlight. This time, it’s not about challenging the champion or delivering an amazing promo. This time around, it’s his wish to face two WWE superstars after he is done with his match against the ‘Tribal Chief’ at WrestleMania 2023.

The American Nightmare has only had a lengthy feud with Seth Rollins so far in the company on his return, but there are a lot of dream matches that could yet happen as Rhodes looks to establish himself as a top name.

Cody Rhodes revealed his dream opponents

Recently, WWE superstar Cody Rhodes appeared on ‘The AJ Awesome Show’. There the host asked him to name the two wrestlers whom he would like to face after WrestleMania 39. To this, the former AEW star hesitated at first, saying that he is not overlooking his title shot against undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. And then he named the two wrestling stars whom he would like to face post-WrestleMania.

Talking to the host, Cody said that first, he would like to meet Johnny Gargano inside the squared circle. He mentioned that, in his previous company, he used to go head-to-head with him during AEW’s wars against NXT, but they have never had a singles match, so he would love to give it a shot.

During the show, Cody Rhodes said, “One is [Gargano], and that’s because when I was with my former company, I always remembered kind of going head-to-head with him on Wednesdays […]He’s something that we’ve never had that singles, and I’d love to have that with him.”

Cody expressed his wish to face a WWE Hall of Famer

After Gargano, Cody mentioned the WWE Hall of Famer Edge. He mentioned that he has been observing Edge for quite a long time and he was a really good locker room leader. But back then Edge always looked at Cody as a kid and now Rhodes wants to face the WWE legend and let him know that he is not a kid anymore. 

“The other one is Edge…When I was on SmackDown, I remember was a really good locker room leader… A true locker room leader, would he able to pull you aside for a note here and there but wasn’t overbearing. But he looked at me as a child, a kid. Those people who look at you as a kid…….You want to one day stand opposed and let them know you’re not a kid anymore… I’d love to just test it out.”

Currently, Cody Rhodes is set to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. He delivered a phenomenal performance in Royal Rumble 2023. Several fans are expecting Rhodes could be the one to end Roman’s championship reign.
