One of the most disheartening moments in Gunther’s ruthless WWE main roster run has been his elimination at the hands of Rhodes. Despite coming in at #1, and breaking the record for spending the longest time in a traditional Royal Rumble, Gunther was unsuccessful at winning it. Speaking to EssentiallySports at Superstar Spectacle, Gunther had this to say about Rhodes.

A possible clash between these two fan-favorites could come in the most casual way or it could be a grand occasion. The realistic way of thinking about this would be that Gunther and Rhodes meet each other at Rumble next year as well. But another way that they could cross paths is a little convoluted but not out of the question.

As many predict, Rhodes is the favorite to main event WrestleMania 40 next year and finally complete his story by pinning Reigns for the world title. When that happens, Rhodes will need a plethora of opponents to solidify his new reign. This is where Gunther would come as a legitimate threat, another unbeatable giant standing in Rhodes’ path.
