It is without a doubt his physique that sets him apart from his other contemporaries. He has become one of the best action stars in Hollywood, thanks to his physique. Which has also helped him get a lot of acting roles.

One of these movies is Pain and Gain, which is based on the true story of a group of Florida bodybuilders who attempt to abduct and extort money. In 2013, in an interview with Muscle and Fitness, he discussed the movie and his passion for bodybuilding.

Dwayne Johnson is a long-time bodybuilding enthusiast

In the interview, Johnson stated that bodybuilding remained his genuine love and that he will always put it ahead of his career as a professional wrestler or Hollywood celebrity. In his words, “I am a lot of things, but at my core, I always have been and always will be a bodybuilder. At least in terms of training, nutrition, and the love of being a gym rat.”

Moreover, he added, “What’s funny is, I’ve had the privilege of playing football for great teams at the University of Miami, with great coaches and great players—Ray Lewis, for example. Then I was fortunate enough to have a career in wrestling.”

And of course, there’s the movie career. But the one mainstay—the constant in my life—has been bodybuilding. I just love the feeling of being in the gym and transforming my body through good old-fashioned hard work and proper nutrition.”
