John Cena Claims WWE Will Have an Unstable Future if They Continue Relying on Former Superstars

John Cena has been the franchise player of WWE for almost two decades now. Throughout these two decades, the ‘Champ’ has worked tirelessly to bring a smile to the faces of the WWE Universe across the globe. Although over the past few years, he has moved on to carving a career for himself in Hollywood.
The ‘Franchise’ made his WWE return last month at Money in the Bank. He will be with the company even after SummerSlam. While he is still a massive draw for the company, John Cena doesn’t have the same role and responsibilities that he once had.

John Cena makes a bold statement regarding the future of WWE
During a recent interview with Brian Truitt of USA Today, John Cena spoke about his WWE return. He said it is overwhelming to see and hear fans chant his name in unison; something that wasn’t the case until a few years ago.
Cena shared that he gets an itch of being forever young and performing in WWE like he used to. “Man I wish there was some sort of fountain of youth where I could be a full-time contributor.” said Cena.

However, Cena also added that WWE must not rely heavily on its former megastars if they want stability in the future. He said, “The longer they continue to bet on an aging prospect, that makes (WWE’s) future a little less stable.”
What John Cena says makes perfect sense. WWE currently relies way too heavily on its former stars. This is exactly what AEW does not do. Tony Khan’s promotion extensively showcases a plethora of up-and-coming talent, with a blend of established stars.

With the momentum AEW has today, the presentation of young superstars is key to it. Cena knows it’s not good to rely on former stars if WWE wishes to continue its dominance over the wrestling world. However, with the likes of Goldberg returning, it is evident that WWE hasn’t figured out how to bring out its newer stars.
