WWE fans were ready and overly excited about their hero, John Cena, coming back to WWE after last year’s impromptu battle. More than his big matches and championship bouts, the thing that everyone loves about Cena is when The Champ roasts someone. Moreover, it makes for an amazing moment when the other wrestler cannot retort well to the legend.

One thing that everyone expected was to see a confrontation between the current US Champion, Austin Theory, confronting Cena. After two years of hinting at a WrestleMania match for the US Championship, this match is finally happening at WrestleMania 39 but not before Cena roasts the living hell out of Theory. But this time, he mentioned some legendary wrestlers to bring it home.

This entire segment started out simply as Theory interrupted Cena’s moment in the ring. But then, he started the whole roast battle as he called out Cena. But then, just like his career has shown us, Cena took the rookie and burned him alive. To do that, though, Cena namedrops some of his legendary opponents, The Undertaker and Dwayne Johnson, as well as a dream match opponent, Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Cena said, “You’re a pair of trunks away from being a jabroni. Wait, this is what’s called a feedback sandwich, so I’m going to say something good. You have the best name in WWE history. Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, there is no name better than Austin Theory, because that’s exactly what you are, a theory.

Before even namedropping them, Cena called Theory a jabroni. Jabroni, meaning a foolish and stupid person, was popularized in WWE by none other than The Rock. Also, calling out Steve Austin is a nice callback to Vince McMahon’s decision to change Austin Theory’s name to just Theory back when he was in charge of the creative.

Not only did this segment give us a confirmed bout for Cena at WrestleMania, but also an amazing roasting session by the Hollywood star. But the most important thing was giving the platform to Cody Rhodes as well for a passing of the torch moment.
