Matt Hardy’s contract is about to expire with AEW. He has been a part of AEW since 2020. So far there is no confirmation on his re-signing and thus fans have jumped in with their hope of him returning to WWE. The discussions between AEW and Matt Hardy are still in progress. 

But now it looks like Matt Hardy may be planning to join WWE. Recently, a video posted by his wife Reby Hardy, sparked speculation about his possible return to the WWE.

The 18th March RAW episode saw a surprising name-dropping. During the opening, the commentary team mentioned past sibling rivalries like “Bret-Owen, Matt-Jeff, Jimmy-Jey, brother vs brother,” marking WWE’s first acknowledgment of Matt and Jeff Hardy. In the video posted by his wife, Reby and Matt are seen in a skybox at PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina, for the night’s RAW.

Reby references Michael Cole’s mention of Matt vs. Jeff Hardy being one of the 3 real-life brothers vs. brother matches to occur at WrestleMania, prompted by the upcoming WrestleMania 40 bout between Jimmy and Jey Uso.

Raleigh is just an hour away from The Hardy’s residence in Cameron, North Carolina, making this appearance convenient. However, with Matt’s AEW contract status still pending, some speculate a return to WWE could be on the horizon. Apart from this, even Sean Ross Sapp confirmed the news about the appearance on X.

Sapp mentioned, “Reby Hardy posted a video of her and Matt Hardy in a skybox at PNC Arena where WWE Raw is tonight.” Matt has not provided concrete updates on his podcast, ongoing discussions with AEW and a desire to work with and elevate younger talent suggest a potential shift in his character’s direction.

It’s common for wrestlers to attend shows of other promotions, as seen recently with Bayley attending Mercedes Mone’s AEW debut.

WWE has released the updated lineup for next week’s episode of Raw, airing Monday night on USA Network. The lineup includes:

– CM Punk makes his return

– Ricochet vs. JD McDonagh

– Andrade El Idolo vs. TBA

– Also, Sami Zayn will face Ludwig Kaiser. Additionally, Candice LeRae takes on Ivy Nile.
