The signature move of a wrestler acts way more than just being a part of the move set. It also serves as the identity of the performer in question. So much so that the fans associate a move only with a particular wrestler, like ‘The Tombstone Piledriver’ with The Undertaker or the dreaded ‘Choke Slam’ with Kane.

Wrestlers also grow fond of a particular move.  If it’s taken away from them, something seems missing from their repertoire. This is exactly what happened to WWE superstar Seth Rollins. He was not allowed to execute his beloved Stomp, known as the Curb-Stomp maneuver, for a number of years. In a recent interaction, Rollins revealed how he got then-boss Vince McMahon’s approval to use the move again.

The Architect lifted the lid on the matter while chatting on Fighful Wrestling With Sean Ross Sapp. He first discussed how McMahon’s intervention led to him letting go of the move.

He said, “Yeah you know, I lost it the day after I won the title at WrestleMania. I had a conversation with Vince. He said no more. He said, no that’s the end of it.”

Rollins then opened up on how he got the maneuver back to his locker. “Years later we needed, you know I had finished the story with Triple H. Which was the pedigree it was majorly involved in that. And it just felt like a time to get a new finish and I wanted to go back to the old one, And it took just a conversation and me trying to explain it to him in a way that he could understand.

“And you know time heals all wounds so whatever had wounded him, he was over it. So he said, alright bring it back and here we are,” added the Grand Slam champion.

As described by him, the famous move was taken away from him after WrestleMania 31. That year’s event is remembered for Rollins’ famous ‘Heist Of The Century’. And it was not until 2018 that he was able to use the Stomp in a WWE ring. 

Rollins used The Pedigree as his finisher during this period. The face-busting move has been associated with The Game Triple H over the years. While, to his credit, Rollins used the move remarkably well, the synonymity with his in-ring persona meant that the ‘Stomp’ suited him perfectly. And all the while the veteran performer was devoid of it, the WWE universe was missing something special.

Thankfully, Rollins’ convincing skills did work on McMahon. The former chairman is considered one of the most stubborn personalities in the industry. And it notably took a period of three years for McMahon to finally get on the same page as Rollins.

The WrestleMania 39 plans for Seth Rollins

On the WrestleMania 39 front, Rollins is gearing up to face ‘The Maverick’ Logan Paul at the spectacle. The two men came face to face at this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw and confirmed their clash at the marquee event.

This was after Paul interfered in the Elimination Chamber match last month. It was somewhat ironic that he used the ‘Stomp’ on Rollins to down the former US champion. An exciting clash awaits at ‘The Showcase Of Immortals’ and ‘The Messiah’ would be looking to maintain his superiority over the move by using it against Paul.

Seth Rollins spent almost three years on the main roster without his designated finisher. The absence of the ‘Stomp’ could hardly be noticed, such was his work in the squared circle. However, the move’s return to his repertoire was the icing on the cake. Rollins and his fans would be glad that Vince McMahon changed his mind about the ‘Stomp’.
