Pat McAfee Is on the Verge of Moving His Daily Show to ESPN After Striking a Whopping Eight Figure Deal With the Channel

The role of a WWE commentator has always been integral to their television programming. But do you remember it coming to the forefront and seeing a side that the WWE Universe never witnessed? Surely, we have seen legendary commentators like Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, and Michael Cole, but each of them had quite a subtle stature that defined that role.

All that changed when Pat McAfee came along and brought his unique style to the mix. Although he left the company to pursue hosting duties for ESPN and his own show, that decision worked out well for him as McAfee inked in a very lucrative deal lately.

What led to Pat McAfee getting an unbelievable eight-figure deal from ESPN?

Pat McAfee had an excellent four-year stint run in WWE that began in 2018. During that time, he was positioned in various roles, from being an occasional wrestler, analyst, and, finally, a color commentator. However, McAfee returned to ESPN to become a regular on “College GameDay” in 2022. This came in addition to his collegiate football alt-broadcasts, produced by Omaha Productions.

Moreover, his own show, “The Pat McAfee Show” has emerged to become a tremendous success on YouTube as well. The talk show has seen some of the top celebrities join Pat such as Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, and even the current WWE Executive Chairman, Vince McMahon.

The rising popularity of his show has now clinched McAfee an eight-figure deal. According to a report by The New York Post, Pat McAfee would be moving “The Pat McAfee Show” from its previous platform, Fanduel, to ESPN. He signed a four-year contract, worth $120 million with Fan Duel for his show in 2022. However, this new deal will reportedly bring him a whopping amount of money and would begin this fall. Moreover, his show is also expected to stay on YouTube also in some capacity.

Pat McAfee came to be known as one of the charismatic and dynamic commentators in WWE. The former NFL punter revamped the role and brought an entirely new side to it on SmackDown. He left the company in 2022. But the fans did see McAfee make a comeback at the 2023 Royal Rumble event. He appeared once again to wrestle a short match against The Miz at WrestleMania 39.

However, with a highly lucrative deal now in place for his own show on ESPN, the chances of Pat McAfee making a full-time return to WWE look slim. Furthermore, he is expected to meet with the officials of ESPN’s parent company, Disney, on Tuesday afternoon.
