On July 1, Roman Reigns and his cousins will lock horns at WWE’s Money In The Bank PLE. Reigns and The Usos will be repeating history as they seek to assert their dominance in the tag team match. A loss for Roman Reigns would dent his credibility as the mighty leader of a faction whose dominance has been unmatched in recent WWE history.

A win, however, would reignite some hope for The Bloodline fans and is likely to bring peace to the stable. But The Usos have other plans! They want to follow in the footsteps of an iconic pair, which will inevitably spell disaster for the Anoa’i stable.

WWE has termed the historic match between Roman Reigns-Solo Sikoa and Jimmy UsoJey Uso as ‘The Bloodline Civil War’. The creative took a cue from the dissent shown by the twins toward their cousin and undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. Following weeks of public humiliation, Jimmy Uso snapped at Night of Champions and used a superkick to sever his ties with the stable.

Jey, who was often described as the ‘right-hand man’ of Reigns, followed suit, albeit a few weeks later. He, akin to his elder twin, used the same move to make a statement. It was clear as daylight that the bond that kept the Samoan wrestlers together was no more. Their fight this weekend will emulate the match that took place in January 1984. That bout was the last time that Anoa’i members faced one another in the WWE.

In a recent interview, Jimmy and Jey spoke about their dream of facing each other in a match. Jimmy said that the idea of the twins feuding is something that they are “constantly saying it to each other”.

Jey added that it is his “number one dream”. “Me vs. him at a WrestleMania,” the younger twin said. He added that not just them, he wants his family to be involved in the bout.

“I want my dad to be in there, to be involved, like a referee. Like, I just want my whole family to run this thing, you know, and just me being against my brother, like, my heart be filled with joy,” Jey Uso said. If it happens, it won’t be the first time that brothers have faced one another inside the squared circle at WrestleMania.

Jimmy and Jey Uso’s proposal is likely to be ‘Deja Vu’ for WWE Universe

Over the decades, many siblings have plied their trade in the WWE. There’s one from the Anoa’i family itself- Sika and Afa. Then there’s The Steiner Brothers- Rick and Scott and, of course, the Harts- Bret and Owen.

Interestingly, Bret and Owen fought against one another at ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All’ in 1994. Their bout opened WrestleMania 10, and the match is considered to be one of the greatest opening matches in WrestleMania history.

After jostling for over 20 minutes, Owen Hart managed to defeat his older sibling, Bret Hart, ending their feud which started at the Royal Rumble that year. Owen had turned heel after attacking the older Hart sibling during the match. He then cut several heartfelt promos, challenging ‘The Hitman’ to a duel. After snubbing it a few times, Bret Hart finally agreed, and it set up the iconic match.

If Jimmy and Jey get WWE to commission a match at WrestleMania, it would certainly be a ‘Deja Vu’ moment for many older fans. That said, they have to stay united and thwart the challenge from Reigns and Sikoa. But tell us what you think about The Usos’ pre-retirement plans. Sound off in the comments below.
