Dwayne Johnson made a name for himself in WWE, before making it big in Hollywood. The Rock was a popular wrestler in his time and built a legacy to last a lifetime. He has largely remained focused on his acting career and made seldom WWE appearances over the years. But it looks like his daughter will carry forward the legacy inside the ring.

Simone Johnson, The Rock’s eldest daughter, signed with WWE in 2020. She began training at the Performance Center in Orlando, and goes by the name Ava Raine. Being the daughter of a successful pro wrestler brings its own pressure and when that pro wrestler is The Rock, there is no escaping the scrutiny.

Becky Lynch, who made her own mark in WWE, talked about how criticism would help Simone grow into a better wrestler.

Dwayne Johnson comes from the famed Anoa’i wrestling family. The family has produced generations of wrestlers, with The Rock’s own daughter the latest name in that line.

Simone Johnson will carry the family legacy forward and hope to forge a successful in-ring career. She became the first fourth-generation star of WWE after signing for the company. This already brings its own attention and pressure on her.

In 2020, during an interview with ‘TMZ’, WWE star Becky Lynch said Johnson has bigger shoes to fill and knows she will face more criticism than others. She said, “there’s big shoes to fill she kind of feels that she’s gonna know that everybody expects a lot more from her and that she’s gonna be under a lot more criticism than everybody else.”

Simone Johnson, Daughter of The Rock, Makes a Special Plea to All Fans

The former RAW Women’s Champion further said that criticism will make Simone better. She stated, “She doesn’t get that chance that slack like that other people might get. But I think she’s up for the challenge and I think that really that tests you that makes you into the woman that you want to be and to be a champion.”

There is no doubt that Simone Johnson will be held under a microscope during her WWE run. This was evident even at the beginning of her WWE career, when her in-ring name was changed from Simone to Ava Raine. This drew a lot of reaction from the fans. Naturally, a lot of attention and criticism will come her way once she appears regularly on WWE.

Simone recently made her first WWE in-ring appearance at an NXT live show event. She referred to herself as ‘The Final Girl’ and cut a promo on the NXT’s women’s roster.
